    Default R3: Roman Roster Reloaded

This EE/LE roster was designed for my own versions of BC 1.05 & Chivalry 3.3, starting from Strelac's models.
Because SV got permission for using BC Roman units, I thought it could be of broader interest.

So here we go. Infantry first.

    Kontaratoi.
Replacing Chivalry’s Skoutatoi. Basic line infantry, armed with spear and dagger, the latter being just “cosmetic”,
because M2TW spearmen’s secondary weapons are known to be inefficient.
Conical helmet, leather cuirass and leather gorget.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Skutatoi.
Spearmen & swordsmen – spearmen replace Kontaratoi, swordsmen replacing the “dismounted lancers”.
    All chain mail, classical shields.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Menavlatoi.
Expectedly equipped with menavlon and a dagger. Pike animation, but no phalanx formation,
which is to me both visually nicer and historically more accurate. Initial version got chain mail,
for consistency with SV 3.3 models – but they turned out to be unbreakable: leather cuirass
seems more balanced, plus probably more accurate.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Peltasts & Toxotai.
Like the original SV models, these are designed to be no riff-raff. Tough guys, can bravely engage melee, with their paramerion sword and round shield.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Mourtatoi
Archers of Turkish origin, but well integrated in the Roman army (there even
was a specific tax for hiring these regiments). Very good at the walls too.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Tzakones & Psiloi
Garrison units. They were also supposed to be palace guards, so their uniforms are decently… uniform.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Labarum.
A must-have, at least for Romans & Mongols, whose tactical use of standards is well documented.
Here is a simple labarum. Models used for the officers are Strelac's "Spatharii".

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Coming soon : elite infantry (Vestiaritai, Varangoi, Paramonai) and light cavalry.

    Very nice models, +1 rep.
But, will you make them available for download? I would love to implement them.

Is this being implemented into SV 4.0 or is this an optional add-on for the current version and future version...?

    Feel free to add me.

    Thank you, mates.

@Wallachian : Actually 3D models are new or heavily modified.

@Averroes19 : I do not have permission for 3.3 - maybe it's too late for that.

@Slim50 : I would be overjoyed to hand all the models over for 4.0 - should this be unpractical for any reason, I believe SV would not be against an add-on package

In the week end, I will take some screenshots of the elite units (Varangoi, Paramonai, Vestiaritai).

For the time being, here are some light cavalry units.

    Trapezitae (javelins & spear)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Hippotoxotai (bow & mace)

looks epic...the horizontal view is well choosen

about packaging, I think its the best solution, because my files have been removed(megaupload cataclysm...), I haven't received news from SV. And he was forward want to release once its possible what he made.
that would allow us to see clearer about priorities, as he replaced two factions, deleted a lot of useless units...etc

    I am fine with packaging.

Too bad v4.0 has incurred so many roadblocks - on the other hand, it had become too big a project: step-by-step approaches are often more effective. Maybe, addressing one campaign at a time, with incremental releases ...

    Elite heavy infantry, then.

    Vestiaritai.
Armed with spatha, they wear chain mail + lamellar cuirass.
All men have splinted armor on their forearms and about 50% have splinted leg guards.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Varangoi.
These are basically Strelac's models, with a few 3D/2D adjustments.
I restored classical 2H axe animation, removing that weird "mace" primary
    used in BC.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Paramonai (alternately, Pronoia Infantry).
Because not much is known about these regiments, one can unleash his imagination
I thought of an evolution of the vanilla "pronoia infantry", because I liked the idea of
the "scary macemen" reported by the historical sources. Availability starting at the
    Mongol Invasion event.
