This EE/LE roster was designed for my own versions of BC 1.05 & Chivalry 3.3, starting from Strelac's models.
Because SV got permission for using BC Roman units, I thought it could be of broader interest.
So here we go. Infantry first.
Kontaratoi.
Replacing Chivalry’s Skoutatoi. Basic line infantry, armed with spear and dagger, the latter being just “cosmetic”,
because M2TW spearmen’s secondary weapons are known to be inefficient.
Conical helmet, leather cuirass and leather gorget.
Skutatoi.
Spearmen & swordsmen – spearmen replace Kontaratoi, swordsmen replacing the “dismounted lancers”.
All chain mail, classical shields.
Menavlatoi.
Expectedly equipped with menavlon and a dagger. Pike animation, but no phalanx formation,
which is to me both visually nicer and historically more accurate. Initial version got chain mail,
for consistency with SV 3.3 models – but they turned out to be unbreakable: leather cuirass
seems more balanced, plus probably more accurate.
Peltasts & Toxotai.
Like the original SV models, these are designed to be no riff-raff. Tough guys, can bravely engage melee, with their paramerion sword and round shield.
Mourtatoi
Archers of Turkish origin, but well integrated in the Roman army (there even
was a specific tax for hiring these regiments). Very good at the walls too.
Tzakones & Psiloi
Garrison units. They were also supposed to be palace guards, so their uniforms are decently… uniform.
Labarum.
A must-have, at least for Romans & Mongols, whose tactical use of standards is well documented.
Here is a simple labarum. Models used for the officers are Strelac's "Spatharii".
Coming soon : elite infantry (Vestiaritai, Varangoi, Paramonai) and light cavalry.
