Jihad?

I was wondering if I declare a jihad and attack a muslem city on the way there will my men desert? I was wanting to declare a jihad on constantinople from antioch and take the turk capital on the way...what do you guys think?

if i was you i would just take all of byz citys on the way i think they get pumped from battles agaisnt an enemy.

be careful, units tend to desert very fast...

i'm pretty sure they do desert if u attack a city of the same religion. just focus on constantinople and use your new money maker to wage war on the byzis and the turks

This is somewhat irrelevant, but relevant to desertion.

One time I sent an army to attack Antioch, I was about 1 turn from conquering the city, so I was like what the hell and made all my armies into Crusading armies so they would get extra XP, My ACTUAL crusading army Deserted and soon followed by my whole military force... Sigh haha.

A little exploit you can use if you really want to. The window to join a Jihad / Crusade is 10 turns. On the first turn since joining, there is no desertion. So, you can totally avoid any desertion by leaving, then rejoining the Jihad / Crusade everyturn (while the 10 turn window is open).

They shouldn't if you can leave the crusade/jihad and then rejoin the same turn. Worth a try.

Recruite the mercenarys after you finish off the city you want, I doubt he will even have enough room in his army to recruit all the mercenarys from all the regions.

Huge number of them should desert if you attack city that is held by the members of same religion. They would just think that you are power-hungry general . Not worth following.

Yep, they are very good for the Jihad units. Also, you gotta have good cavalry units and you are set.

Yeah the general, but most the time because theres only ~100 defenders I auto resolve.

Usually I auto-resolve when I have small battles. With the rebels and such.
Crusades and Jihads, never. Every battle needs my personal supervision

I believe u cant attack factions of your religion w/ a crusade/jihad army, unless they're excommed.
