Default Changing Capital Causes You to Lose Money?

I don't think I've noticed this before, but I am losing money when I change my capital. I had around 20k, and I changed to from Paris to Clermont, my total florins dropped by around 6k. I started toggling back and forth between Clermont and Paris, and quickly took my florin count into the negative.

Anyone seen this before, or know what it's about?

Yes, you lose gold each time you switch capitals though it depends on what difficulty level you are on. Hard/Very Hard will cost you 5000 gold to switch while Easy/Medium costs you 2000 gold.

Okay, didn't realize that. The issue I have with that is I don't necessarily always know where my capital "should" be, and this makes it hard to check and figure that out. Bah, I suppose I can get through the game just fine without ever changing my capital anyway. :/

You don't really need to change your Capital until you've got to a stage where 5000g is nothing anyway. If you don't like it, you can always bring the console up and simply add the money. If you want to just experiment the best place, just save, move it around (as it will continue docking money even in the red), find the place you want, then reload and relocate there.

Admittedly I was also caught out by this when I was doing it and found myself 20k in the red next turn. Just figured it was a glitch and added back the money on the console. Eventually I saw the writing under the button though.

One early capital change that I do is moving the HRE capital from Frankfurt to Nuremberg, to eliminate Vienna's corruption.

It also depends on what difficulty you are playing, as a higher game setting difficulty increases the cost significantly.

It should also be noted that some faction capital changes are automatic (and free), when certain cities are taken by specific factions (Inex. Ireland when it seizes Dublin). There might be others besides Ireland (early campaign), but I haven't played all of the factions yet.... so I'm not sure.
