Retro Fit/mods messes up Online play?

I have retrofit installed
But when I try to play Online I use the vanilla exe not the retro

I also have a blood mod installed

Is it both or one of them that is messing my online play up

I have v1.3 vanilla other than the above when I run the vanilla exe

But soon as I connect to someones game I cannot get past "next create your army" button

For online play, you and whoever you want to play have to have exactly the same setup including mods and mods of those mods.
