Unexpected crash

Don't know why this is but whenever I try to start a battle, custom or in campaign, it loads, shows me a messed up version of the battle screen then crashes. I have already uninstalled then re-installed Medieval 2 and I'm still getting the same error. I have tried it with various unit combinations and still it crashes. Can anyone please help me?

What are your computer specs?

Windows XP media center edition, 2.66GHZ dual core processor, 1GB RAM, Radeon x1650 512mb graphics card. It has run on this system before and it's only recently after I've been messing with mods that it's screwing up. I'll load a battle on the campaign map then it shows me a view just behind my captains head and beneath him is no ground, just blackness, despite the rest of the ground appearing. It won't load custom battles at all.

Two things to check. First are your graphics drivers upto date?

Secondly, you say you have been messing with some mods, are those mods still installed on your computer somewhere? Although you have reinstalled it, double check theres no interference with any of the mods you have tried.

Yeah I did that and modified the unit file. Wanted to drop the price and upkeep of all the armored guys. Sick of militia running the world. After that something went wrong so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Issue was still present.

When you unpack the game you need to delete the following files or the game will crash when you enter battle:

data\descr_geography_new.txt
data\descr_geography_new.db
