I read somewhere (but cannot now find) a mod which improved the firing of muskets/arquebusiers by having them fire coordinated volleys and not cycle back and forth so much. Can anyone tell me where I can find it?

Get the animations pack.
FAILED TO DENOUNCE BLASPHEMER
In Old Irish
Anál nathrach, orth' bháis's bethad, do chél dénmha
In Modern Irish:
Anáil nathrach, ortha bháis is beatha, do chéal déanaimh
In English:
Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making.
athough this has already been largly fixed in ss
“Being a Humanist means trying to behave decently without expectation of rewards or punishment after you are dead.” ― Kurt Vonnegut
"Education: that which reveals to the wise, and conceals from the stupid, the vast limits of their knowledge." ― Mark Twain
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humor was provided to console him for what he is." ― Oscar Wilde
“While money can't buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery.” ― Groucho Marx
yo ss has vastly improved on vanilla in that department but the previously stated sub-mod does make it more realistic/better and improves it even more
Install just the animations pack if you only want the improved musket and pike animations. It also only affects infantry and not mounted musketeers.
Great. Thanks for all the tips.
But the game won't even load after I install export desc unit file. What am I doing wrong?

It's supposed to work fine with SS 6.1?

Why u install export_descr_unit file? Only install animations.
The problem is that the export_descr_unit file from the animations pack includes a lot of new late-era units specific to the AoR Expansion mod, so you get errors. You should only install the files in the folder 'animation'.

Download the file 'animationpack'. When you open the zip file, the stuff in the folder 'animations' is what you want. Copy that to the Stainless Steel directory. I hope this helps.
EDIT: Also there's a file called descr_skeleton.txt when you open the zip that's not in any folders, I don't know if you need it but I copied it over too. My musketeers and arquebusiers work just fine now so at least it seems to work for me.
MORE EDIT: Oh, sorry, when you go to download the animationspack, it's not the link at the bottom of the first post. Open some of the spoiler tags and you will see more links. Get the one marked 'animationpack'. Good luck.
