Default How does a city revolt decide whether it becomes rebels or the original owner?

Hmm I was wondering because there were times when a city revolted such as Constantinople and it becomes a rebel town but other times it reverts back to the original nation. How does one determine this?

I think it depends on how long the previous faction held the settlement for, but I'm not really sure myself.

If it becomes the same as the original owner it must've been that they got bribed, never happened to me so I'm not sure.

oh well i've had a loyalist revolt before after i gave a city to my enemy. the garrison was almost non-existent and the populace rebelled into my hands
i think it's just if the city has been taken within the last 5 turns or so and if the public order is really low. if the it's been longer than a certain amount of time, it will probably be a rebel

I once had a Loyalist revolt in an HRE village that I never even came near with a diplomat (playing as Novgorod), so I have no idea how they work. It was maybe 15 turns in and we had no border.

This only happened once to me, and it was in Rome. I was some Roman faction (blues) and I got the great idea to go to that place south of Numidia and Carthrage and bribe it with a diplomat because it was rebel. Well, apparantly the settlement revolted (but by that time I had all of Greece and France because that's where the Senate kept giving me the frikin missions! I mean, they hadn't even told me to get Carthrage!) and decided to turn NUMIDIAN. I'm like, WTF? THEY WERE REBELS!!
