Fernando started out as a promising young Spanish noble with 3 command stars and a lot of good traits. He got married to a Spanish princess, Constanca Nunez, and everything was looking good, doing garrison duty at Toledo Citadel. But then it all went wrong...
His wife turned out to be Undesireable (-1 popularity, decreases the chance for having children). And then he came across a Witch who first gave him Warts (-1 command -1 morale) and although he tried to flee (because she was stalking him), he got Flatulant (-2 command -1 authority -2 morale).
This became to much for his wife, and he soon got Lacks Manhoood (-4 authority) "those who bed his wife openly laugh about it to his face, - before pissing on his shoes..."
With his private life in ruins, he soon became Alcoholic (-3 command -3 authority) and unfit for any important command.
Chasing rebels in the Toledo region seemed to be his destiny, but then came his chance to make a difference!
During a routine escortduty with some Knights of Santiago for a trebuche-unit traveling from Toulouse Citadel to Paris, riots broke out in Spanish-held Marseille. With no one else in the area, Fernando was chosen to be the problemsolver.
Leaving the rest of the group, Fernando took the fastest route to Marseille, and having his bad luck, was intercepted by a French force operating out of Dijon. Trying to retire back from this vastly superior force was in vain, so Fernando and his bodyguard ended up on a hill, committed to fight to the end.
Attacked by more than 1.200 Frenchmen, Fernando and his 40 Comrades in Arms inflicted 282 casualities, loosing 33 men themselves (including Fernando, who died a noble death in the year of our Lord 1284).
If there is a morale in this story, it must be to avoid all witches on your way, wifes included!
Cheers,
