How to crush Egyptians as Scipii

I've developed a solid strategy against the Egyptians that causes very few casualties for my troops and has worked on a very consistent basis.

My stack consists of:
2 or 3 onagers or heavy onagers
4 to 6 Archer Auxillia
3 or 4 Legionary Cohorts or E-LCs
1 General
6 to 10 Cavalry units.

The Egyptians most often utilize defense as their primary strategy. They prefer to harrass you with missile cavalry and pharaoh's archers in an attempt to lure you in to breaking your army against their spearmen.

My strategy consists of placing my onagers out front in the starting position because I want them bombarding the enemy as soon as possible. At the start of the battle I get my onagers either firing or moving toward the enemy with fire at will mode on. As soon as my onagers are in range, they are bombarding the enemy and I march my archers directly infront of my onagers also set to fire at will mode using fire. My 3 or 4 foot troops provide a buffer to slow down any Egyptian cavalry long enough for my cavalry to run them down and route them. With this many archers utilizing fire, the enemy units only make it ~3/4 of the way to my lines before routing. Because Egypt has such a defensive strategy, they usually only send out one or two spearmen or axemen units at a time.

My cavalry stays close to my main force and only moves out when an Egyptian cavalry or chariot unit moves away from their main grouping or my cavalry needs to head off a direct attack upon my infantry or archers.

This is a very simple strategy that I've used successfully against the Egyptians in difficult battle mode and even when I'm outnumbered by a 2 to 1 margin. Utilizing your cavalry correctly is the key to this strategy.

actually its not hard defeating eygpt and especially against AI. but this strategy sounds fine

i agree with "Roman_Wolf" your strategy's fine, but Egypt's not that tough on AI. The key thing to do is to have lots of (Scipii) Light Auxillia to get rid of the chariots, and some cav to kill the skirmishers. your legions can deal with the phalanxes well enough. Besides, if u play your cards right, your cav can support your infantry after killing the skirmishers
