I have a friend who works pretty high up in the Obama Campaign, they confirmed that Biden will be walking on stage with Obama in Springfield, IL as his running mate.

I'll wait until it's actually confirmed.
Biden's already confirmed to be at the event.
About a month ago I mentioned to my wife that Biden would be a great choice. Good judgement imo.

Good choice, in my opinion.
Sorry. I'm not good in American politics, who is Biden?
The man's an experienced senator with a pretty moderate leaning, as far as the current trend of lefties in congress go. He's done quite a lot on the home front and overseas front alike, and even butted heads with Powell, Cheney & Co a few times way back, which, I guess, makes him pretty popular with the left leaning crowd.
Anyway - Obama seems to be trying to get some experience and age-cred on his side, which isn't a bad idea however you look at it.
I mean - I still wouldn't vote for him if I had an alternative moderate choice, but I don't. So Obama & Biden's getting my vote.

He's quite a senior senator, and was one of the original candidates for the Presidential nomination.
All the articles I have read that site inside sources say Biden has gotten the nod to be VP.
The choice is a safe one. There is basically no senator/governor with more foriegn policy experience (or at least percieved foriegn policy experience). He is about as presidential looking as you can get. He has been scandle free throughout his long political career. And he is a pitbull in debates (a quality VPs have started to need).
On the downside, he is definitely part of the "old" politics and is a Washington man through and through. He is not known as a populist, nor does he bring anything to the table to please Hillary voters. His biggest downside however, is that he has a big mouth, and has been known to put his foot in it from time to time. But with Obama on the top of the ticket, a faux-pas by the VP would mean nothing.
People with be voting for or against Obama, what's on the bottom of the ticket will mean little.

I agree, the GOP has redefined what the VP does, or at least the persception of what a GOP VP would be able to do (post-Cheney). And because McCain is a very divisive figure in his party, his choice will be seen as an anouncement of which side of the party he will caiter to. If he chooses Lieberman it will be a signal that he has abandoned the Religous-Right and intends to go moderate. While that may be true in the case of the Democrats, because of McCain's advancing years the Republican choice will be critical. I hope he picks Lieberman since I see that as a poor choice and if you didn't know...I'm for BO
And the other point, that the likelyhood that McCain wouldn't be able to stay alive for a full term or two, makes his VP choice far more important.
Isn't Biden the one that wanted to break Iraq into three countries?
Here's a Biden commercial when he ran for Prez in 88.
It seems the democrats haven't changed their failed "America is a horrible place" message one bit in 20 years.

As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

In case you haven't noticed, recent polls show that most Americans do think that the country is heading in the wrong direction, and that Republicans are taking the blame the most for it.
And I would argue that Iraq in 3 countries is a lot better than 4,000 American casualties suffered in a war based on false pretenses that served no purpose.

Actually Id say given the fact Bush's approval/disapproval ratings are still far better then congress that blame on the "republicans" is less a factor then blame on everyone in power.
Except there would have been no way to achieve that goal that still didnt involve military being involved and hence targets. Unless of course you think one of the three being short changed out of oil riches would go over too well...or that the Iraqis themselves want to be split up into three countries to begin with. And I would argue that Iraq in 3 countries is a lot better than 4,000 American casualties suffered in a war based on false pretenses that served no purpose.
The poll I saw just a few days ago showed displeasure is most directed at the Republican side of government.
On the other point, I guess what I was saying is that ANYTHING other than invading a country under false pretenses would have been better, including Iraq remaining in its status quo, pre-invasion.

Considering all reports are that only people who even know who is pick is Obama, his wife and the highest members of his inner circle I somehow doubt your "friend" knows. Even if its right Id say it would be more a guess then anything else since Biden has clearly been at the top of the list along side Kaine.
He would be a good VP for Obama if he is true.
At the beginning of the primaries, before it reached Illinois, I was going to vote for him.
Congressional approval ratings have been low for an extremely long time. Bush is to blame for many things as he is president and can still rule well over a terrible government, however congress is always looked upon badly. You don't get the worse approval/disapproval ratings in history and having no blame set on you,.Actually Id say given the fact Bush's approval/disapproval ratings are still far better then congress that blame on the "republicans" is less a factor then blame on everyone in power.
People are stupid, they always hate congress but like their Congressman/Senator.... so they stay in power as they don't vote them out. So people will always dislike that branch, and always have.
