Iran trys to launch satellite!

This surprised me, they must be rapidly progressing their military.

So Iran sucessfully launched their "Safir" satellite carrier. People think they have launched the "Omid" satellite into space, but there is no evidence or comfirmation. If they haven't launched it in this launch they may launch it next week.

Considering how the UK and US suppressed Iran's development (scientific and otherwise) for the past 100 years or so, it's still surprising how they've come up with this.

The more Iran joins up with the modern world, the less scary they'll be. It's fun and even useful to be extremist when you're poor (it scares off invaders), but it's silly when you got a red button you can push. All of a sudden negotiations becomes more important.

I think a reuters article said something about someone (yah lol) saying that with the data they gained from this failure, they now can fix that, and that could lead to missile technology with what Iran would be able to shoot missiles to even Europe.

Well, if they can shoot satellite to orbit... ICBM is not that huge issue. It is basically just rocket which is supposed to go both up and then down.

Designing satellite launch system and ICBM launch system has significant synergy.

It think they might have ability to shoot to Greece already. With bit better carriers they should reach rest of the way to UK for example.

Best way to keep Iran as a problem? Keep then scientifically poor. The moment innovation and scientifica reasoning set in the Ayatolahs will be gone. Incredible, but this is actually good news.

Well, unless Europe will start invading their country i fail to see why this should be a concern. They are not the boogeyman. Their need to get defensive capabilities is completely justified by the world they live in. Apparently some people put on a fit whenever a news come up that someone gained defense capabilities. And nukes are just that. Deterrents... And i don't see how that should be a concern unless you are going to invade their country.
