SS and Patches

Hello TW Community,

I just got back into medieval 2 and kingdoms and sore a video with them using SS, so i've downloaded it and so on.

I had m2 and kingdoms both installed and wasn't sure what patches i had on both of them. anyhow i installed SS and i read somewhere it installs a desktop icon after installing SS, it didn't for me for some reason, so i loaded up the m2 launcher with the kingdoms disc(m2 disc didn't work)
and it gets to the bit where it says SS 6.1 in big letters and then quits to the desktop.

not sure why i have no other mods and have never used any this is my first for this game.

anyhow i uninstalled SS and m2 and kingdoms to just get a fresh copy again and am installing it now again but my main question is this

should i install the m2 and kingdoms latest patches before i install SS again or don't i need the patches if i use SS???

you can go either way, some people have the 1.5 patch, some just have 1.4 (what comes in kingdoms) eitherworks. the thing is, the icon it puts there is for 6.0 (if it does), you need to get the batch file found in \mods\Stainless_Steel_6 make a shortcut to that and put it on your desktop, you can tehn change the icon to the one found in that same location for the shortcut

any ideas why it would quit to the desktop?

to start it i used the kingdoms disc, and used the medieval 2 launcher where you can then push play and it has the list

medieval 2
the 4 kingdoms factions listed
stainless steel

i clicked on stainless steel and it loaded then quit to desktop after it came up with the loading screen, didn't get into the menu.

anyhow i'll try it once i install this again and see if it works.\
