With reference to the SS 6.1 traits file (I use Quark's modified version) and playing the Grand Campaign (not the custom Late Era):
Something strange about the Mongol invasion script in the Grand Campaign is that the first two characters spawned in as part of the 'scouting invasion' seem to become the Mongol royal family automatically. This is disastrous as they have absolutely no traits beyond the standard 5 loyalty, 3 piety and the faction leader or faction heir traits. When the main invasion spawns in a few turns later, you get three awesome generals with high dread, full command stars and plenty of other positive traits, while their 'Khan' has a mediocre 3 command stars and his heir has none... has anyone else noticed this?
The traits file also makes warlike factions (Cumans, Lithuanians, Templars and Teutonics) more likely to have militarily inclined warriors. Unfortunately, the Mongols are not on the list. Instead, you get a majority of Mongol generals after the first generation becoming excellent administrators. This is not perhaps that big a deal except that military education gives a massive boost to movement points on the campaign map, which is essential for the Mongols to do more than wander around in the Northeast forever.
