The population needs to reach a certain amount. What are the populations of nottingham as opposed to the other castles? -Leon
Hmm, not sure, but right now I think it's on + anyway. How do I increase the growth of the population except Growth Build Policy? Afaik, if it's already on + the growth policy wont change anything.
Build farms as that increases population. You need 9000 citizens before you can upgrade to a citadel my man. When I played as England it took me a while to get Nottingham to a citadel. By the way Nottingham is the only castle you want on the British Isles. Have all the rest as cities. Another good way to increase population is to build loads of peasants in other regions, move them to Nottingham and disband them. That is how I did it in my game as got bored waiting.
Ah ok.. Very very soon then, I have over 8.5k I think, I have built everything I can in nottingham so I'll just have to wait, unfortunately tho, the growth is on 0.5% and growth policy wont change it. And yes I know, I have notthingham and galway as castles (just in case someone would get the idea to raid ireland while I'm gone.) getting a mighty 90k income per month!
I also have another question, my king died a while ago, and 2 turns after the new king got elected he also died. Now there doesn't seem to be any king present, how many turns does it take for a new king to get crowned?
a new king is crowned immediately after the previous one dies ... if you dont have enough family members to crown a king, your faction is destroyed and you lose
another way to boost a settlement into becoming a citadel fast is by converting it into a town
1) you can set the tax to low (thus boosting growth) - you cant change taxes in castles, they are always normal
2) towns get more growth than castles
3) you build farms to boost growth even more
4) you can still build barracks so that when you convert to castle you have some troop-hiring capacity
one thing to be careful tho.... do NOT upgrade to stone walls... once a settlement has stone walls it CANNOT be converted into a castle anymore..
you get the option of building stone walls at about 6k population, but you should leave the wooden walls until you reach the population of your liking
There is nothing that can match the exuberance of youth.... except of course, wisdom and treachery.
Ok, thanks.
I have enough family members, way enough, every city/settlement is crowded with them, almost all of them descendants from the Pole family. I got a prince, but no king. Could it be possible that there are so many of them, that they're fighting for the crown? Or is it just to wait a few turns?
Go to your faction scroll page and up the top it will have Faction leader: name and Greatest General: name. That should help you find your King - He'll be somewhere...
Find your best general at increasing population - should be one with high chivalry - and send him to Nottingham. I think it may help to build ports and paved roads but can't find any direct evidence of such. Keep rebels out of the region as they cause devastation which can't be good by the sound of it. I bet a hot princess or two in or about Nottingham will get the population growing.
no for good reasons though, in rtw u could easily get all your cities to huge by just transporting peasants over the map.
