    Default No Battlefield Banners/Flags

Had MTWII with Kingdoms, Brocken Crescent, and Stainless Steel 6.1 + one sub mod (S.S. Total Combat 1.2). The sub mod removed most of the battlefield banners & flags. I'm computer illiterate so I uninstalled all of the above and reinstalled MTW II Gold with Kingdoms hoping to get the Banners/Flags back. Now have NO battlefield Banners or Flags.

Please help me get the Banners & Flags back. Thanks in advance for all your help.

i think they did, but if you go to your MIITW root folder (usually under C:/program files/sega/medieval II total war), find the medieval2.preference.cfg file, make sure it's not read-only (right click the file, go to properties, uncheck read-only) then open it with notepad ([just in case] right click=>open with=>notepad)
then find the line show_banners under the [video] section. change the 0 to a 1, save the file, and start up the game. the banners should be back

so what exactly did you open here? the problem isn't with the actual banner images, you just have them turned off. did you do a search within the MII folder for banners?

MTWII _ Data _ Banners ....double click on Banners and its says....

    No items match your search.

Any ideas???????? Maybe I took a wrong turn...
did you recently reinstall the game and haven't played it? because if so, you should play a little of the campaign, like one turn, and also do a quick custom battle. that should put the other data in medieval2.preference.cfg

also, to anyone reading this topic, i think i'm right, but if i'm wrong, please help Mega Tortas out

mega tortas, be more specific which version your playing. If it is SS6.1 that lacks banners then go to SS6 folder and then go to Stainless_Steel_Kingdoms.cfg.

edit: hmm i thought it was that one but maybe im wrong. can anyone confirm this?

edit once more: ok i see what the problem is...that is, i think i know since i couldn't understand what you posted on #3 or#5. but here goes.
go to medieval II total war folder. once in go to medieval2.preference.cfg, enter.

"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

    Spanish_Emperor.....

Thanks for the help. is there any chance opening the file with notepad is messing things up??? Cuz now most of the files i click on open with notepad in the format i displayed in previous posts. I understand what your saying but when I go to open the files you mentioned i get something totaly different. Let me mess with this some more and I'll try and put things in a more coherent package.

Boy I hate being a computer dummy

Notepad should have nothing to do with it. To tell you the truth i don't see how you couldn't have what i showed you in medieval2.preference.cfg. All i can tell you is to maybe try to copy, paste my info into your medieval2.preference.cfg or try to put
"show_banners = 1" inside and see if the game works.

im sorry i can't be of much more help

haha thanks! thats what the purpose of these forums are!
anyways, the only time i've seen a .cfg file with that little information is when the game has recently been (re)installed and the game hasn't been fired up yet

i agree with spanish_emperor though, try copy and pasting his info into your medieval2.preference.cfg

SuperStick... Na, that's not it. Reinstalled still no flags. Guess I need to copiy these files as suggested, but am chicken cuz if I botch it I'm looking at one or two of reloading.

So I'll just sit and suffer in ignorance for now. Enjoy all the neat flags/Banners for me.

*nods* Okay, well first of all, do you have WinRar? If you don't, please download it from this website. Also download CC-Cleaner as well.
    http://www.rarlab.com/

Now, uninstall M2TW completely from your hard-drive. Be sure to go into Program Files, and delete the SEGA folder as well. Afterwards, run CC-Cleaner, and do a fix for the Registry and Cleaner. Now, start WINRAR, go to C: Drive-Users-App Data-Local, and search all the folders, if you find any folder labeled "SEGA" or "Medieval II" delete it. After all that is done, then reinstall the Gold Edition.
