    Default Forbidden Fruit

What was this precious fruit that Adam and Eve ate? As in real life fruits. I've already heard about apples, grapes, figs, tomatoes, wheat, and corn (that one doesn't make since).
Well corn could be if you did the "America's is the Garden of Eden?" thing.

The Bible never says, though people like to think it is an apple.

I think it could be one amazing fruit that can talk.

    Why an apple though?

The latin "malum" as an adjective means "evil" as a noun means "apple".
So people thought evil and apple being the same word must mean that the fruit was an apple.

I don't think that it matters what kind of fruit it was. What matters in the story is that it came from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and that Adam ate it contrary to God's command.

He blamed it on his wife, like any husband.

The center of diversity of the genus Malus is the eastern Turkey. The apple tree was perhaps the earliest tree to be cultivated,[8] and its fruits have been improved through selection over thousands of years. Alexander the Great is credited with finding dwarfed apples in Asia Minor in 300 BCE;[1] those he brought back to Greece might have been the progenitors of dwarfing rootstocks.
    Wiki
Malum = in greek means "μήλο"=apple. Originaly meant fruit or lotus.

Since bible was first written in greek, the fruit that the protoplast ate was describe as with that world which later had its meaning changed from fruit to apple
and later on that caused the misunderstanding

I find them odd; but I am convinced they are the mystical fruit of many traditions being the prominent fruit of the old middle east.

there are actually books written about why the pomegranate is significant in symbolism.

I think you're supposed to suck on 'em? I forget. Either way, they're sticky and tricky little fiddling bastards to eat.

There are also opinions that it was tomato because this fruit in some Slavic languages is called "rajčica" or "paradajz", (both words are related to paradise - "raj" means "paradise").
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbidden_fruit
    hahaha tomato?

anyway i think the misunderstanding was caused during the translation to greek since the greek world for apple changed it's meaning from fruit to apple...

So i think neither apple or tomato are true since originally that wasn't really clear

If i may guess since the story came from people who lived in modern israel and that places the fruit may was somekind of the trees which they've got there.

    Anyway the fruit was and the story most probably are just symbolic;
like the story that god create the world in 7 days
