The British Police now have the right to determine what music you can listen to.

Lol, England allready is a police state. Ever been to London? Cant go 5 meters without a CCTV camera in your face. Sitting in a pub, i counted 7 of then just just from what I could see out the window.
Not the greates feeling. Don't get me wrong, London is still one of my favourite places.

Our freedoms are slowly being cut away, so as shocking as this move may be, it's not too suprising. That does not make it any more insane

If there was a measurable threat, say a history of violence, at Mr Doherty's gigs (there isn't) I can understand. But the only danger a punter might experience is him not showing up because he was too drunk to perform. We didn't have this nonsense when the Sex Pistols played, in the 70,s and more recently.

The law has decided unilaterally to decide whether paying customers should be allowed to listen to music because one jobsworth disapproves of it. Orko's right. The next step would be agents of the state banning theatre or TV shows.

Well the report mentions fans mounting the stage at his gig at the Albert Hall last month, so it's just a public safety issue, happens all the time. Remember the Sex Pistols, they were banned from virtually every venue in Britain. Not the end of the world, if people really want to see him, they'll go watch him in another town.

Docherty's a dickhead anyway, if he plays in Leeds I might go and throw bottles at him.

Oooo! fans on the stage! how dangerous! we should ban all stages and prevent anyone from ever going on them.

Throw a bottle for me, he is a prick.

    Oh, I see.

I think the grounds are a bit weak though. there are differences between the AH and your typical festival stage. Could they not insist on more stewards and appropriate barriers?

I tentatively endorse your description of the fellow, nonetheless.

Your right, but we do seem to live in a world now dominated by "health and safety", plus Chief Constables have never been noted for their grasp or love of popular culture.

I just noticed it's Wiltshire as well, thats where the cops like to annually duff up all those new age travellers.

No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Do you remember the time when the British police only concerned themselves with solving crime? They gave up on that as being too difficult a long time ago.

They have become the paramilitary wing of The Guardian.

the police have something like a 25% solve rate, if that was anyone else, like schools with a 25% pass rate they'd be shut down with in a week.

They Guardian get pissy every time the police do like this and worse, that woman from Liberty (can't remember her name, she's a small Asian) is always writing in the comment and debate section.

more than the PC police i would consider them a censorship police, blocking a concert becouse
They concluded that the band's tendency to "speed up and then slow down the music" could create a "whirlpool effect" and spark disorder.
WTF ??? what they would do if the Rammstein or the Korn decide to stage a concert in the UK? Shoot them the moment they come out of the airplane?

To be honest however this is more of a show of stupidity from the police, i would be more worried about the security and police camera's epidemic across britain.
