Default Diplomacy is fixed! Too bad.....

Unlike MTW2, it really works great here. Problem is, that it just works too well and I am finding it too easy to keep the peace and negotiate my way out of problems. If you keep your rep up and play your cards right, it is rare to get backstabbed or ganged up on until you get a pretty large empire built.

My point is, it has been fixed too well. We are talking Medieval times here where backstabbing and duplicity were a high art. I am playing 4 different campaigns but really have not been to pressed by my neighbors. They should be my friends at times but they also should covet my lands and let me have it when I let my guard slip. This was the way it worked.

Truth is there really should be a degree of ramdomness and even your best ally should be capable of the double cross. Perhaps it could be linked to character traits. Such as an insane leader. or other traits like "covets your wife". "jealous of his neighbors" or "dishonest" Or perhaps "feels betrayed" if they get attacked and you do not help them or help them but keep one of their cities.

Not ing about this great mod. Just an opinion.

I was under the assumption that I was the only genius posting on this board...

    Hmmm...

Genius would mean - M2:TW, not MTW2 as you said =]

Even CA get that wrong some times in the game files though ^^ - I guess the game was originally going to be called Medieval Total War 2, but it was changed in the last stages of development.

Guess the thing is that some players will backstab backstab backstab, where as other players (Myself included) Tend to honor alliances and such. I think each AI 'king' should have a percentage chance that they would backstab, aswell as other variables such as the relationship between the countries etc. So you have a nice king who wouldn't backstab you for anything, then he dies and his successor is more then happy to.

I sometimes dabble with two, four is pretty hardcore if you can maintain the same level of interest in each one. But back to the topic, It would be pretty cool if each King or faction had tendencies to back-stab or honor alliances.

Only if it was based on each kings personality traits etc .

King Chisle McChin the Honourable shouldn't chose to backstab allies whereas King Utter B'stard the Backstabber would be a likely suspect .

I hate random crap that doesn't make sense or is counter intuitive .

I'm not going to change for the other 3 .
