    Default Renaming religion

Hi, does anyone know if it's possile to rename the "religion" text that you see on the settlement screen? I know how to change Catholic -> whatever and orthodox -> whatever2. What I want to do is change the bit that just says "Religion". I think they did this in Kingdoms when they changed "religion" to "culture".

    Cheers

I don't know for sure, but my guess is it would be in strat.txt since a look at it seems to determine it deals with the display names of pretty much everything on the steat map. Like this line:

    {SMT_CONSTRUCTION_QUEUE}Construction Queue

Probably governs the text on mouseover of the CQ or similar. So my guess is you'd find the religion one in there. Also something funny I found:

{ST_STAR_FORT}DO NOT TRANSLATE - ARGH! OH GOD! NOT MEANT TO BE A STAR FORT ANYWHERE! ARGH AGAIN!

Wonder what a star fort is, sounds awesome

EDIT: A quick search for religion in the file yielded these results

    {SMT_DOMINANT_RELIGION}Dominant Religion:
    {SMT_BELIEFS}Religious Conversion Strengths
    {SMT_CURRENT_COMMITMENT}Current strength of belief:
    {SMT_PREDICTED_COMMITMENT}Predicted strength of belief:

    and

    {SMT_RELIGION}Religion

    and

    {SMT_CAPABILITY_RELIGION_LEVEL}Religion Conversion Bonus:
{SMT_CAPABILITY_RELIGION_LEVEL_AMPLIFIER}Amplifies the conversion effect of Orthodox churches by

If you change all of that display text to culture related stuff, that should do the trick

    Cheers,
    Augustus

Great thanks! + rep. Going to try this now. I had to download the strat.txt file from here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...o=file&id=1566

I also noticed there is a tool tips txt file which will allow me to change the default "Construction of this siege equipment is not required" to "In For King or Country, you can not build towers and ladders".

Wonder what a star fort is, sounds awesome
I saw a reference to a star fort in some of the other files when I was trying to edit the walls. Maybe there are some model files in there somewhere.

    Cheers

The Star Fort seems to be the Huge City version of a castle. I couldn't find any files relating to it and I haven't tried making one by renaming the Citadel files.

More information on the Star Fort can be found here:

Woah, well that explains it. Makes me wonder if there's orphaned files of this nature in the .world files. CA isn't exactly a proponent of removing files that aren't included, instanced by the plugin code, the settlement viewer code, the animal code, and countless other files which dictate defunct or unfinished areas. Would be awesome to somehow get a star fort in-game .

Icon1 What is a Star Fort?

This is to Augustus Lucifer and anyone who was wondering how a star fort played into m2tw. As far as I know, I am THE only person besides SEGA who knows about this and I accidentally discovered it about a year ago. One of my Star Forts in one campaign, Stockholm, has its name above the cq and recruitment buttons displayed as, "DO NOT TRANSLATE - ARGH! OH GOD! NOT MEANT TO BE A STAR FORT ANYWHERE! ARGH AGAIN! - Stockholm" How is this? It is through a glitch that combines both city and castle into one. Star Forts have the buildings of a castle, free upkeep for a few units, a city wall and castle wall, not to mention a great income. I would tell how to do this, but then no one would believe me wen I tell them I discovered it. I'm sure someone else will figure it out. Ask them. I might tell a few people by email.

Can you make a guide that explains how to get a Starfort? Which files do you have to modify?

Icon1 How to get Star Forts

You don't need to modify anything to make a Star Fort. To get one in-game follow these instructions: Get a village (it ONLY works from villages). Get enogh population to upgrade. Add the upgrade to the cq. Then add convert to motte and bailey. Move the upgrade behind the conversion in the cq. After the conversion, the upgrade will still be in the cq. Let it finish. Eventually, you should have two upgrades available. Do both. Keep adding things to the castle/city untill two more upgrades become available. These are the last upgrades available, and they will put you at 'Star Fort.' I've never had to defend one, but I imagine that with the two different walls that it would have a relatively high defence, posibly equal to or greater than that of a Citadel. If I remember correctly, some buildings from cities are available, but the main type of the settlement is a castle. You have free upkeep for certain units. If you tell anyone, please give credit to me (Sweyn78). (Great, now this will be all over the Internet...)
