    Default On the "Awakening" Groups

I've been moderately following the Sunni Awakening group saga and its relations with the Maliki led government, and came across this on Yahoo! news. Does anyone know anything else, the Counter-Insurgency blog Abu Muqawama has a post on it. My question is, what does this move mean towards the long term stability of Iraq?

God, this Iraqi government is pathetic. New elections are needed, without Sunni boycotts.

Well, if they're going to get around anywhere, they need to snuff out the Awakening militias.

Not when its out of sectarian based ideology as it appears to be, that would be disastrous for U.S. policy in Iraq, which could see said groups returning to the insurgency after being turned off by the Iraqi political system which is dominated by Shi'ites.

Not the ones who are US backed and are against Al Qaeda. That's just stupid.
