    Default Repair times

Does anyone know how to increase repair times? Is it dependent upon the number of turns it takes to create the building/wall?

    Cheers

Are you referring to the rate at which buildings repair on their own, depending on how much % damaged they are, over a period of turns? Because obviously the Construction Queue repair time is 1 turn for all buildings regardless of how many turns it took to build them.

If it has to do with the construction time, it shouldn't be hard to test by culling revolts in settlements and taking note of % damage to buildings and their construction time, then doing some calculations to see if the numbers can yield the results with a single formula.

If this isn't it, then it has to be global for all buildings, and could be in the hard code, just as I don't know anywhere you can find the "generic_repair" input line that needs to be in the export_buildings.txt. Otherwise would have to be a number in a relevant .xml file that either gives a turn number or a modifier. Will look into it tomorrow maybe if someone more informed doesn't ride in on a cloud of glory with the answer, ZzzZZzzzZ time now.

EDIT: One last conjecture. With PHP editing, sometimes there are files, like the LocalSettings.php in a MediaWiki, which if an input is entered, it will be taken rather than the DefaultSettings.php entry, but if an input isn't, then it will use the one from the Default Settings. It could be possible, since the generic_repair is undoubtedly somehow used by a file similar to the EDB, if it has to be in the EB, that you could add an entry for generic_repair that would be taken instead of the one found in the equivalent hardcode file. Having said that, I have absolutely no idea what the entry could look like.

EDIT #2: Similar discoveries were made with the plug-ins. Mind you the syntax for the plug-ins was already in the file, it was reported by CA as not finished code, and was not used at all for the vanilla files. It's possible that an entry for generic_repair could be devised, based on the current EDB basic entries, and the game might use it if the parameters are supplied. For instance, special parameters for slave and pope factions are seen in descr_sm_factions.txt that aren't described or used outside the hardcode, so it's possible a similar indicator line for the building that shows it's a generic building could be supplied.... just a thought.

I don't usually give them the time to do so, because they're generally only damaged in a riot and thus need to be restored if there's any hope of keeping the peace. That being said, it's my understanding that they'll be repaired over time. If this wasn't the case, why would buildings have a percentile injury when they are damaged in events or by sabotage, if this is negligible in how long it takes to repair them in the queue?

Sounds like it's more complicated than I thought, thanks for the replies Augustus.
