Essentially. The British proposal never included a plan to build a facility for the two sports, and the IOC didn't push them to. As a result they simply voted it off the event list.

Its silly because in 2016 the host country will ask for it to be put back on. Im thinking Rio will get them as South America has never hosted the summer games. Every country still in the running plays baseball, including Spain.

Regents Park, London, site of a £50 million pound venue for baseball/softball. We're not a third world country, if an events in the Olympics, we'll build a stadium for it. It's nothimg to do with Britain and all to do with the IOC, who hold a secret ballot on what sports will make up the programme.

Ah yes, Regents Park, the same place they banned baseball because it was too noisy, and damaged the grass.

What I have read is that in the initial bid, London didn't provide plans for a venue because of rumblings that both sports were likely to be voted out. Then in the later stages they did provide Regents Park, when it was even clearer that both sports would be voted out.

Well, China did play a lot better than people expected this time around in the Olympics.

they even beat Taiwan arrragh, (sure , Taiwan ended their previous match about 9 hours before the start of this one. considering travel / warmup time that probably means they slept for about 4 -5 hours the night before.)

As for baseball in the Olympics, it's conflict with the pro season makes it too difficult to continue . softball should stay though.
