    Default Recommended Submods?

    Just found your mod, and I was re-installing MTW2 after a long break, and I always thought the game itself was very fun, and I come here, and find people saying it's "Crappy", and that SS makes it better in every way, so I decide to try it with this mod this time and see how I like it...

    Little did I know, there are mods to the mod, and I've seen some interesting ones, but far to many to check them all out in detail(I'm lazy, sorry)


    So I was hoping the life of the community could tell me what Submods they think enhance the game to be even better.

    I want personal opinions, and general over-all opinions too.

    I think it'll depend on what you're looking for. What do you want out of your campaign? Eye candy? Something differnt in terms of game play?

    I asked for your personal opinions also, not just overall. I'd like to know what you like / think makes it better.

    Thanks Barser, Crimsontide looks worthwhile, and SSTC also does.

    You cant go wrong with crimson tide and sstc.

    If I where to install it I would install these mods in this order:

    sstc
    crimson tide
    stone forts addon
    y and y visual pack
    templar sub mod
    my faction leader sub mod + files that makes it work with templar mod

    Oh yeah you might need RR in order to use the templar mod. I cant remember.

    But this is just my personaly opinion. You might enjoy other changes.

    Currently, I cannot find this file: descr_character_traits

    Which is required by one of the mods to work, I did a forum search and found nothing.

    you will find it in \Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data

    What do you need that file for?

    SSTC says I need that file from another mod to work, yet that mod thread no longer has the file, and it states the mod needs it...so I am confused. Go look at the SSTC thread.

    Can't go wrong with Xenophonia as well...

    Yeah, I really like that one aswell. However, I must admit it bugs me that my Danes suddently started talking german..!

    I never touched that when installing that mod. It should be fine if you just install it.

    Yes banzai have done a great job with that mod.

    Well, there are some errors in that log right there, after I try to start the game up.

    Medieval 2 Vanilla works fine, but Kingdoms won't start up, all I get is a blank error box with a ! in it, and it says nothing, but I found that log.

    I tried starting up SS, and got that same error...


    Obviously, during the lengthy install of the mods recommended, reading their threads and how to be compatible with each other, I've somewhere made a mistake - but with what? I'm hoping that log file could help someone decipher what.

    I've installed SS 6.1, SSTC 1.2,Crimson Tide,, installed that RR with support for the other mods...it's confusing, RAJ 1.3(Came with the latest SSTC), that Y&Y Pack, that Crowns thing with support for the HYG III mod, and the Factions Leader / Templar Mini mod thing, with support for each other, and I did as the readme file for each said, but I probably made a mistake(This game is much harder to install mods than most)(I lost track of what I installed, but it did not venture outside what was mentioned in this thread)

    Considering what the log file says, I'm hoping someone could use to it help, if not, I'll have to re-download everything again.

    Maybe start over and then install one sub mod at a time. try getting sstc and such to work first before you put templar or my mod over it.

    Mm, but now I'm wondering what's happened to make Kingdoms not boot up? I mean, the only files I thought were changed were the SS ones really.

    Well, I've managed to get it to work, well, just the SSTC, SS, and Crimson Blood, and the RAJ mod, all installed and such...

    Honestly...I only played about 20 minutes, but I didn't notice much of a change...I noticed units looked more beat up and raggity, probably from Crimson Blood...besides that though, it seemed the same.

    Going to sleep now, try it tomorrow again.

    I may try that AI, but I hear it has a lot of issues that almost nullify the goodness it does.


    Anyways, it seems all the mods worked, until I tried again to install The Knights Templar mod, I installed it, as the directions said, and downloaded the SSTC patch for compat, put that in, and I get the same log as I get above, it seems if I remove yer mod, everything works...I'm sure I'm somehow not installing the mod correctly.

    stone forts addon should be save game compitable. Try serching in the sub mod section for stone forts.
