Default What should a new player download?

Hello. I've just started playing and noticed that there are some bug and though that there maybe are some updates? When I looked in the downloading-area I saw that there are like a hundred to choose from.

Which should I take if I want to play both ME2 and kingdoms?

    Thanks =)

At the very least, the 1.2 patch (the latest, methinks). If you want to play the game that's mostly vanilla with a few more bugs squished, I'd try Lands to Conquer or Ultimate AI.

get the updates, also do you want a mod, because id reccomend stainless steel or broken crescent

stainless focuses on europe and brings alot of what kingdoms has to the original campaign

Broken crescent adds to the middle east, it almost completly excludes western europe and has much more islamic countries than vanilla or stainless

I'm pretty sure the is a 1.3 patch for Grand Campaign and if you have Kingdoms get the 1.5 patch.

mind as well use the retro fit mod if u wanna keep it vanilla

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

Play vanilla first, meaning no modifications, then when you've learned the basics, what to build, how to create an army, diplomacy, war, etc. After that I recommend Stainless Steel, it's a great mod.

    Thanks for the answers!

Okey, I will try and play some without the mods at first, but I do want the patches. So can I play original ME with the 1.2 patch and then later kingdoms with 1.5?

I also noticed "cloudes across europe" that makes it possible to play with more factions, like sweden =) Is that one for Original ME 2 or for kingdoms?

I've read that stainless steel should be good so I'll try it later, where can I download it?

Firstly, do you have the the Original & Kingdoms? If you install Kingdoms it will automatically install up to patch 1.3. Kingoms is also effectivly version 1.4.

As for mods, theres some subforums under "Medieval 2 Hosted Modifications" & "Kingdoms Hosted Modifications". Stainless Steel is a Kingdoms Mod, however, if you do not have Kingdoms, you can go to the SS subforum and find version 4, as that will work on the original.

Absolutmax, google or search for Stainless Steel 6.1 in the forum and you'll find a big thread by a guy called KingKong or something like that, he made SS. Never played clouds across europe but it will be a big change from vanilla, I thought SS sucked at first cause everything was more difficult, but after a while you'll understand how much of an improvement it is, much more realistic. I'd recommend you shut off the submods in the 6.1 patch for SS tho, they can be really really annoying for new people.

Okey, I found the thread. How do I cut off the submods?

And which patch is compatible with this mod?

If you have Kingdoms and want the patch get 1.5, it will fix Kingdoms and some stuff in the Grand Campaign. There.
