    Default Strat Models

    KINGDOMS STRAT MODELS

    This Tutorial will show you how to place in the Kingdoms strat models.

    Need:
    Unpacked Game.
    Kingdoms Expansion.
    Mod folder (not needed but highly recommended use GEDS or alpacas)

    Text Files Needed:

    descr_character.txt
    export_descr_character_traits.txt
    descr_model_strat.txt

    First open the crusaders descr_characters (found in data folder)
    and scroll down until you find this code.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 





    now copy and paste this into your mod folder descr_characters text file
    under named character deleting the old Venice entree.

    close and save the file.
    now back to the crusader data file and open descr_model_strat.txt this file contains the data paths to the model textures

    scroll down until you find the data entrees fancy_general this is the code you need so copy it.

    Open your mod folders descr_model_strat.txt file and paste this here under general.

    Now need to remove a few factions from the above list as we do not have them in the game so remove antioch, jerusalem keeping venice and slave.
    see below.

    so we now need to copy the textures over from the crusader folder to our mod folder or base MTW folder

    open your crusaders models_strat and copy these over to your mod folder model_strat or base folder.

    and these from the models_strat/textures file.

    if you do not copy these files over you will receive and error message on about video memory.

    you will also need to add this line in to your mod folders export_descr_character_traits.txt

    Nice tutorial J@mes, certainly helpful. See if you can get a moderator to add it to the Stickied Tuts list so when it gets bumped to page 2 eventually it is still referenced.

    I am trying this tutorial but I keep getting this: "20:41:04.718 [data.invalid] [error] Insufficient video memory to load requested texture set."
    I have correctly copy pasted everything....what could it be?
    Could the fact that in my mod pope is out of the game result in this behaviour?

    Hm...I kust fount out that the problem is the kingdoms' ".cas" models I put in my mod. They cause the problem I mentioned before. Why does this happen?

    Remember that vanilla use a tga.dds format and kingdoms use a tga format only, that might be, or the .cas file was converted in a wrong way.
    Unsifiecient memory error means a problem with the way you converted that texture as well.

    After spending the whole evening+night trying to make it work, I now am pretty sure that the .cas causes the problem.

    What do you mean "converted in a wrong way"?
    How can I convert it?

    .cas strat models can be edited and repack so taht way you can make you own strat model see it here.

    I used this tutorial as guidance to change model of jerusalem faction leader, and jerusalem generals look in Broken crescent...but something is wrong

    I'm trying to replace jerusalem faction leader model from Broken Crescent with another from 12th century mod, so:

    These are jerusalem general models in Broken crescent descr_character.txt

    faction france
    dictionary 2
    strat_model bc_christian_general
    battle_model Christian_General
    battle_equip gladius, chainmail shirt helmet and rectangular shield


    And these are in descr_character.txt in 12th century mod:

    faction portugal
    dictionary 2
    strat_model early_northern_general
    strat_model early_northern_general ; heir
    strat_model early_northern_king ; leader
    strat_model general_ibelin ; leper
    strat_model leper ; leper
    battle_model Early_Northern_General
    battle_equip gladius, chainmail shirt helmet and rectangular shield


    I just want to replace faction leaders model, not for all generals...but I don't know how

    Dude if is only replacement what you want to do , simply rename the strat .cas files and replace the old one with the new one, and that is about it. make sure is under the "strat_model early_northern_king ; leader ".

    In Broken crescent, the faction leader is using the same model as generals. But in 12th century mod he uses different one...so, it's not just replacement...

    hello i´m new in this and i am triyng to change the vanilla strat textures for faction leader,heir and the comun general....for captains i instaled a mood and i´m pretty satisfied with the textures ,but i can´t do it i get a ctd and i can´t solve this ...can someone help?it´s killing me....
