    Default Quick Question

Im having CTD's when loading battles, and originally i thought that it was a RS problem, so i was about to post in their technical help, but then i played an alexander historical battle, and it CTD'd when I was loading the battle. I have heard that maxing out RTW's quality causes CTD's when loading battles. Or is it an Alexander problem since in both cases i was using and alexander exe. In any case, what are the highest settings i can have without having to crash the game?

Well, the settings depend upon what system (PC and Graphics card you are running on). Post some details.

The most resource hungry settings (graphic wise) are vegetation (grass) and shadows (I think).

Start by turning these down to the minimum and see if you can play the game with those without crashing.

Make sure that your drivers are all up-to-date.

    1. Depends on how good your computer is.
    2. Depends on which units are in the battle.
    3. Depends on whether you're besieging a settlement.

The game still has bugs. If you can auto-resolve the battles and continue your campaign, the units and/or walls are bugged. No fix known.

Ive got a 8600gt, 3.8ghz duo core, 1 gig of ram. I dont get CTD's until do 1280x1024 rez, but thats what i run with m2tw, and fraps gives me an fps between 24 and upper thirties when I run the game that high. I max out other older games too, but that does not happen. Is it just rome? Also, the game does not always crash, just when it feels like i need to learn a lesson or something

Part of the problem is that mods such as RS have higher detailed skins than the ones in RTW. I've read that the M2:TW skins look OK but aren't that detailed either.
