    Default Impressive, most impressive

I thought I'd take a break from being turned into a sieve in my XGM 5.6.4 Seleucid campaign to check out a newer version. Wow. I'm extremely impressed. Great new skins and I really like the provincial campaigns. XGM is looking like such a polished product these days.

I started a campaign as Macedonia on H/M with AI bonuses on and it was real backs-to-the-wall stuff for the first few turns - in 280bc alone I won 3 heroic victories against the Gauls coming down from the North, then almost immediately the GCS pulled a 'pearl harbor' and stabbed me in the back. By 275 no Greeks remained on the mainland.

There's nothing quite like the first few turns when you're really up against it and one false move could plunge your empire into disaster. Exhilirating stuff!

You should try the submods, they also add to the challenge and immersion...

Yeah, XGM has come a long way since 5.6, DBH has even said 5.8 is coming out "soon-ish", so watch out for that. It'll have Suppanuts Ethnic Traits in it, which is a great idea. And the numerous sub-mods (AGM, Senate Mod, Extended Cultures etc.) really flesh out the game.

Lol, thanks maraxus. I'll have to try to slip in a few more.

@ Zarax, Scutarii : Any particular sub-mods you recommend? I've read about Diadochi and I thought it seemed worth a look, just haven't got round to it yet. Bear in mind that I only really enjoy playing as the successor factions (and I'm not overly keen on the Ptolomies as a die-hard Seleucid).

Diadochi is an extremely well done mod, I'd say give it a try, although it is very challenging. Other Sub-mods I like are Suppanuts Ethnic Traits, and Zarax's Senate mod that I will probably be incorporated into the main build (with Ethnic Traits) when its fully made. I haven't tried CV's Extended Cultures, but that shouldn't stop you from trying it, I've only heard good things about it.

Ah, curses, I forgot about Bal's Command mod. Great stuff, I use it myself. Kinda of got so used to it its not a sub-mod for me anymore, but part of XGM itself.

Balikedes - I hate your avatar picture dude - it just looks disturbing - how can a 'man' with that much head hair have no chest hair - it just ain't right.

It's Robert Plant dude, he's a Manimal...all hair that can possibly grow out of him, grows out of his head. The man is like a human wet suit...except for his head.
