I'm trying for a thieves guild HQ, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's already been built. Any way I can find out without sending spies to every settlement looking for it?

Conquer the Egyptians!
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

Take Adventures in a Land Down Under. My latest AAR
You can't find it out but you don't have to worry, AI rarely gets HQ cause their cities develop slower then yours, I believe only guild HQ I captured was Swordsmith's guild HQ in Hamburg.
... and then you turned Hamburg into a castle?

Double-clicking on an enemy settlement lets you see the buildings and the army inside it. Most of the time you can see only some of them. If you get a spy or your army near the settlement, you may be able to see them all. If you capture the settlement, look on the panel, change the tab from army to city and you can see the guilds between the other buildings. Moors and Egypt commonly build thieves guilds on Cordoba, Marrakesh, Jerusalem... so yes, the AI does build them.
Eh, it's not a big deal, I'm just doing some testing on a guild modification and I needed the headquarters to see if it worked, but if another faction got the HQ, (not hard to do while testing it, I added like 200 points just for spying on a settlement) then I can't really test the effects.
Oh well, I'll just do it another way.
Thanks anyway!
You could just look in the building browser...

That's...
I would just be looking at what I put there. I'm trying to make sure the effects work.
