Where is Heaven?

With the science and among other things in this world searching through outerspace and seeing our solar system and universe and the almost absolute endlessness of space to see everything we can. But where is heaven in this grand scheme of an.......existance. I've heard some people talk of heaven and they say its a state of mind (pretty much the same as hell).

If heaven is a real place (as in it can be reached) then where could it be? Early peoples only saw up to Saturn and they said past that was heaven (they also said that the Earth was the centre of the universe). The mormons believe god has spirit children on the star Kolob. Could heaven be located in one of the millions of galaxies that are out there just waiting to be found or do they not exist?

This question (and there is alot) is one of the reasons I'm an atheist. I have yet to hear one satisfactory answer from believers on it.

Becasue science has shattered any evidence of a material heaven existing, religion now has adapted to say that heaven is "on another plane" or "is within your mind" ... but religion in the beginning when science was just taking its first steps was convinced and tried convincing many people that a material heaven or swarga or w/e u wanna call it, did exist. now that those illusions have shattered it takes refuge in some abstract idea. Maybe science will shatter that illusion in the future as well, till then hide all you want !

Aah ... that is a much better answer. I thought you were a refering it to like religion does, as existing in another plane where we cannot access it when we're alive and such. Was gearing up for an argument

That heaven is inside human beings. The more they are good, responsible, conscious, etc. The more there is heaven.

Exactely.

Young grown-ups after puberty when they start to separate from their parents and become more independant emotionally, with 13 or 16 maybe, they start to develop or look for some inner balance to overcome the shock of the emotional separation from the preceeding enviroment. That is one situation in life when the metaphor heaven starts to relate to us in our cultures. We say sometimes, now you have entered the world of the adults. Even if it is more of a progressive sequence of steps or emotional events which can last over years. Some people feel in heaven when they get married or find their first job or change their profession.

On a more theistic and less realistic approach then I have heard of the idea that our supposed spiritual bodies enter another dimension. But that just sounds like the kind of idea that would come from a man tripping.

Some people say it is on another plane (like on a higher dimension). A higher dimensional person would be like a god in our dimension. but that raises the question of, what about a being of even higher dimension? He would be more powerful (unless String theory is right and our universe only has 11 dimensions. Then god would be a 11 dimensional being).

However, String theory also gives us the opportunity to open Planck's Length's size dimensions and go into them (we would need the energy of a galaxy to do so, but it is possible).

And if we can harness the power of a galaxy, then we might be able to find this heaven (if it exists, which I doubt).
