Default Priests and schools, universities and libraries.

I've been wondering if schools, libraries and universities have any effects on priests? I haven't noticed any, but most of my priests get thelogians guild benefits anyway as I always try to max out my clergy when playing as catholics. Do the educational buildings have any effects on the clergy, or only other characters?
I've had a look in the forums, but people only ever seem to mention generals/nobles and I think the university mentions that diplomats can get traits there and maybe the library too.

Let me check the VnV triggers... no, they don't. Only family members, generals and diplomats.

Although priests at one point represented the educated class of medieval society, the only attribute that concerns them is piety, which is gained through the church building line and Theologians guild, so seemed little point in adding more to this.

My preference has always been to have monastries on the map and then use them to increase education, law and technological developmet for western societies, but unfortuneately I have found know one willing to do a 3D Monastry model.

You could think of your priests more as 'missionaries' than academics if it helps.

Is there a list somewhere showing which regions can build studia generalia and great library?

Ive found a few great university regions (London, Paris, Constantinople, Salamanca, Bologna) but so far no great libraries

One of the descr_ files has the complete list. If I recall correctly: Cordoba, Rome, and Baghdad can build Great Libraries.

A settlement can build either a Great Library and a University -- or -- a Library and a Great University.

As of 6.1, a settlement cannot have both a Great Library and a Great University.

I edited my descr_ files to allow a few more settlements to have Great Libraries.

Playing as a Catholic kingdom, I had better characters and better education with the Great Universities vs. the Great Libraries, though I'm not familiar with how exactly SS assigns the new and edited traits.

yeah, i just had a look and only places with edu1 can build great libraries and edu 2 to build studia generalia.

I should check for the exact properties of each really, great univesities are good for educating youre generals but maybe great libraries can allow youre generals to get better traits further on in life... i know libraries are meant to be good for diplomats etc...

    thanks mate +rep

Great Universities and Libaries have been assigned only those settlements which had such in the period. If any one has evidence of further locations happy to look into it and add in.
