I have tried re-installing several times now, clearing my registry, adding the log text into the medieval2.preference file this is what comes up -

Re: CTD in campaign
Any luck? Is it just crashing 5-30 seconds after you have started a campaign? Are you playig on Kingdoms/any specific mods? OR just Vanilla normal medieval 2 total war? And make sure the geography files are deleted if you unpack the files.

Re: CTD in campaign
Again no luck, im just playing vanilla mtw 2.
yes its always 5-30 secs after i start a campaign, i did the unpack sinceposting here and yes i have deleted the two geography files and still no joy.
The only things i can see but are not sure on are the missing key.dat file and the line in the error file:
19:43:12.546 [bink] [debug] [data/fmv/faction/france_win.bik]Pause on
which happens just before the crash, also i have tried all the different factions available and still no luck

Re: CTD in campaign
Okay, these files are possible what is causing your problem:
19:43:12.546 [bink] [debug] [data/fmv/faction/france_win.bik]Pause on
19:43:12.546 [bink] [debug] [data/fmv/faction/france_win.bik]Pause on
There is a problem with a certain video or two for France, you could try disabling video by going into your preferences, and adding or changing this if it is already there:
[video]
video = false

Re: CTD in campaign
Some people have reported having problems installing from external drives and had to use their internal one.

Re: CTD in campaign
Another complete uninstall and re-install and still the same thing happens, i inputed the line adviced
[video]
video = false
and this doesnt change anything , i still get the original video playing and its the same for all factions.
I am at a complete loss with this problem.
Not a clue what to do!

Re: CTD in campaign
Clean your dvd and make sure there are no scratches? Short of the BIOS crapping out, that's the only reason it isn't being read if you have tried it on more than one drive. Overclocking will do it, too.

Re: CTD in campaign
You just told me something else you didn't say earlier. The copy protection on this program does not like programs like Nero that can make pirate copies. There is your problem. 1)Get rid of it or 2)convince www.securom.com that it isn't being used for illegal purposes.

Re: CTD in campaign
Oki sorry for this long whinded problem i realy just cannot think of anything.
I have disabled nero, but still cant play .
I have just gone into the medieval2.preference file in the main folder and found it to be empty!
it realy does sound like a bad install to me but how can this be if after 8 uninstalls and re-installs i always get the same results?
also with the fix mentioned earlier regarding the
[video]
video = false
i dont think this is doing what it is supposed to as i am still seeing videos :/

Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like Rome Total War. Where did you find that one? Have you checked for heat problems?

Re: CTD in campaign
Did you put Nero back on your computer? How does your video card handle other games? Are you sure it's not overheating?
