    Default Sassanid General CTD

    Scary Sassanid Ghost Generals!

I got sassanid duplicate generals again, also crashes the game.
This time I killed one of them (with an assasin), like you said, Julianus.

But he became a ghost general. - Which is even more scary.
Meaning, he has the grey look of dead famiy members and his army is lead by a captain,
but he is still the first unit and fighting him still crashes the game.

I had made a screenshot but I restarted my computer before I could save it.
So I will provide one in a minute.

    Edit:

    Sounds creepy...*shiver*

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

After reloading, the dead general was gone and it works.
I guess, I just always keep a good assasin in the area.
I just wonder what causes this.

    Help!
Another duplicate general! And I cant kill him, my assasin is too bad.
    How do I do it?
    No cheat is working.

Could I somehow cheat the assasin good? That doesn't work either.

ah yes. that problem also surfaced with EB. you might want to go to the guild for this. the explanation was there (don't remember what)
I haz a culler!! (really, who gives a darn? its totally meaningless, and it doesn't really accurately reflect who I am)

Thanks for that tip, but the guild does not seem to have a search function and I cant find anything on the matter there.
Any idea what the thread was?

I found this over at the guild:http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=104114

It seems to be a problem in relation to adopting generals. The obvious solution was to employ the "move_character" command and relocate the offending character to the far reaches of the map and hope that he dies of old age.

The EB guys don't seem to have an answer to the problem. My hunch is that it lies with the trait file. If anybody can enlighten me on this I and many others would be much appreciated.

    EDIT:

i found this thread over at The Guild which describes how to take over a faction in order to deal with "clone" characters. Of course you need to put in the appropriate faction name. Always ensure you save the original file.

    Cheers

    Thank you, JH.

They talk about client rulers being adopted into the family.
I do not know that feature. Is that something that's also in IJ?

It's similiar. In IB mods, each faction can adopt generals. The clones seem to appear as a result of adoption into the factions family. In EB it seems to only occur with the Seluciads. In IJ it seems to happen with the Sassanids.

Which script file should I use to import the take-over-faction command?
    The GenericScript.txt is not there.

Try copying and pasting the one from the RTW\data\scripts\show_me\genericScript.txt into the scripts folder in IJ.

Add a line after the text "script" and type in console_command control sassanids. Then follow the instructions here taken from the EB thread.

Save the file and restart the game. Hit F1 and click the "?" on the scroll which appears. The advisor will now pop up: click the "Show me how" button. The AI will run through the turns of all the factions until the AS (in our case, the sassanids) turn begins.

Let me know how you go.

There is no generic Script file in RTW either.

What is a "client ruler"? I don't even know what that is.
Like a family member, or what?
Or the leader of a client kingdom?

If you can just change faction control by script command, wouldn't it be possible to have the
roman empire divided, but the player plays both parts?
Just a thought, I don't know if I would even want that.
I like the united empire in IJ.

Hmm:hmmm:, perhaps it's an EB file. Have you tried the moving character command?

The client ruler would be part of the faction's family.

Hmm, you wouldn't want to try that for the main campaign as the empire_east faction is non-playable. Might cause a CTD.
