Thanks to Halie, I bought the graphic novel and so far, its a very good read. Also, the movie will be out soon. I have to say, reading the comic, it is almost in script form, and I can visualise it as a movie without having to adapt or change a thing.

Anyway, this thread's just for people who've read it or know about it.

BTW, put everything revealing in spoiler tags, I've not quite finished.

The novel is amasing, I espacially loved the ending.
But I really dont know how sutch a deep and long comic can be made into a movie. Also, the director wories me.

In contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who have strived to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth done other than to create hate and bloodshed.

Zack Snyder? Yes, his history - i.e. 300 - worries me a bit too, but reading his interview in this month's Empire makes me confident it will be good. He's trying to stick as close as possible to the original story.

But the man is all about speciall efects and beauty, while the novel concentrates on story and..... Acting.
Even the trailer looks to mutch like 300.

    Also:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I hope he brings some sens to or cuts out the part where the woman tries to convince doctor manhattan to save earth.
Its so bad, and the flashbacks are so hammed in its unbalievable.
That is the onely bad part of the novel

Yeah it looks good, 300 was a fun romp but now it looks like he's getting serious about the story. But, have any of you heard about a 300 sequel? It's in the works. What can he possibly make a sequel about?

Well, he could make a movie about the Athenians after the Battle of Thermopylae defeating the Persians, just like in real history.

he could do a prequel and do the battle of marathon, or he could stick with the 2nd persian war and go with the battle of salamis or the battle of plataea

EDIT: even though i already know about the characters, doe anyone know of a good place to get the graphic novel? i havent found it so far

Any comic book store would have it. Failing that amazon.com has it. It may even be at your local library.

A ideal sequel to '300' would be '10000'.

'YO DUDE, THE PERSIANS ARE COMING'

I was willing the film to end. Its pants.

I love medieval and classical films as well but 300 was utter rubbish.

Try the big advert at the top of this page.

Sometime during early '85' I was working in Soho (London) and over the months I noticed fly posters bearing the legend 'Who watches the Watchmen,' I had no idea what they were about and probably assumed they were for a band. At first the flyers were just black and white text but as the months wore on there were more and more posters and they now had an image, still I had no idea but I was intrigued.

One day the guy I worked with comes down into the basement with this comic, on the cover is the big smiley face with blood oozing around it. I was out the door and into Forbidden planet ten mins later and buying my own copy. To say I was blown away would be an understatement, I'd never read anything like it, and I'd been a fan of Alan Moore from his '2000ad' and 'Swamp Thing' days, but this was very different.

I'm looking forward and praying they don't balls this up, so far from the trailer at least, it looks like it might be ok,' and everything I've read from ZS sounds good. Including the inclusion of The Black Freighter as a DVD extra.

The film looks like it might live up to it's source material. Hopefully it isn't another reason for Alan Moore to hate Hollywood.

Valentin, the 300 comic was also about violence and the unreal environment. The Watchmen certainly is not.

Well if Zack Snyder wanted to make the 300 'series' serious and respected, an Athenian sequel would be pretty sound and it'd make for great storylining and battles. They could get some really great actors and environments, win lots of rewards and respect and make 300 look like more than just a blood filled spear-gasm without unnecessary use of too much CGI.

So obviously, he wouldn't do such a sequel.

    Exactly!
Its like the director doesnt know how to do anything else after he did 300.
