Sounds like a corrupted file. Have you patched the game or done anything to mess with the game files?
i installed clouds over europe, but the game it occurs on was created after it was installed
edit- now after trying diff campaigns it seems it happens in others, at random intervals and loads

1. If it is happening in the original game, then a file is corrupted. Sometimes you can just start a new campaign. If not, it means a total uninstall, reinstall.
2. If you are playing a mod, odds are it's a file in the mod. Then the info, including turn, factions-your and the offending one, and anything else pertinent, to that mod forum.
3. If you are trying different mods on the same Medieval II Total War folder, you are begging for problems. Many of the mods have added factions and units which change many of the original animation folders and are not compitable.
well i uninstall reinstalled, started new campaign. Worked fine then crash, if i try to load it it crashes. On uninstalling, are there any hidden files to look out for to delete?
checking the log from latest crash i got this:
16:09:42.891 [data.invalid] [error] Save game has different number of character attribute types than current version! This may have undesirable effects.
16:09:42.937 [system.io] [warning] open: data/loading_screen/loading_logo.tga.dds is missing

What are your computer specs? Please run dxdiag.
IRISHRON - where would you go to download DX9... and will it be installed along side dx10? reason im asking is because at the moment im playing on vista with DX 10 and mine seems ok at the moment (after I uninstalled, disabled user accound control and reinstalled).
JOOS - I am also using windows vista home premium with SP and my graphics card is very similar to yours, except I have the 8600M gs version for laptop. hoping to have a nice new sparkly desktop sometimes next week.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en. Download the whole thing to your desktop and run setup from there. Directx10 doesn't even know it's there. You'll have to do the same thing when you get your desktop.
thanks irishron
