What exactly do we do in here?
I'll make a leap here and list favourite bands/artists. I'm not really a fan of traditional blues, e.g. Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson. But blues rock still counts, so... Rory Gallagher, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, The Allman Brothers Band and Free.
Ooh, a man after my own heart, I'd add to that Blues Rock list Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ten Years After, Humble Pie, Led Zeppelin's first album, and Taste.
As for the Blues list, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, and many others...
Also, I always thought the classic Blues line was 'woke up this morning...'

i start first within a Myth.....SRV....
Who is SRV...?
"Stevie was born in Dallas, Texas on October the 3rd 1954. At the age of 9 Stevie took the guitar from his older brother Jimmie and played on it.
Stevie started playing in bands called The Nightcrawlers and The Cobra's. He formed Double Trouble with female singer Lou-Ann Barton. When she left the band in 1980 Stevie became the foreman of DT.
In 1982 David Bowie asked Stevie to play on his Let's Dance album,so thank you, Mr. Bowie, Stevie became a well-known guitarist.
In 1983 Texas Flood was released. Stevie's first album. He was known as Texas' best blues guitarplayer but he could play more than that. During his recording career Stevie received several Grammy Awards.
Unfortunatly he was killed by a helicopter crash after a show in Alpine Valley, on August 27th 1990. He is burried in Dallas, Texas.
So long, Stevie....... "

Thanks
Yes he is from 70's (Tadeusz Nalepa was the leader of the band), and more precisely from late 60's to early 80'sAFAIK they were quite well known (as for a Polish band) in the Netherlands and UK where they played for some money on hardware in those times
EDIT:
Also Czesław Niemen is quite good and quite well known blues author from Poland:
"Sen o Warszawie" ("Dream about Warsaw"):
"Dziwny jest ten świat" ("Strange is this world"):

we continue with o band from Greece...BLUES WIRE...i saw them many times live and they are best, probably the best blues band at Europe...
Elias Zaikos+Blues Wire - I Can't Understand [Willie Dixon]
Blues Wire & Big Time Sarah - Sweet Home Chicago
Blues Wire-Pride
Blues Wire-Life on the road
and somethin important...they are still alive.....
In the words of blues prodigy Katie Webster, "Blues Wire are the best blues band in Europe and deserve to be heard by a wider audience".
According to everybody who has ever witnessed a Blues Wire gig this band is one of Europe 's best kept blues secrets and they should finally get the chance to be known to blues lovers around the world.
The Blues Wire story began in 1983 when Sotiris Zisis (bass) and Elias Zaikos formed Blues Gang (who renamed themselves as Blues Wire in 1985), the very first blues band in Greece that tried to capture the original sounds of blues legends like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and T-Bone Walker.
They recorded the first blues album ever to be made by Greek musicians, at a time when it was really difficult to play music without obvious roots in Greek culture, let alone get a record deal for it. Back then, playing the blues not only could make someone almost an outcast, but it also meant dealing with shady characters and going through hard times.
The only ways for a blues band to go through these times was to be tough, determined and stay true to the spirit that moved them in the first place.
It was these qualities that saw Blues Wire rise from a struggling blues band to full-grown, seasoned artists with their own distinctive sound.
Thousands of gigs in every kind of venue imaginable, scores of TV and radio show appearances in Greece as well as abroad and an enviable recording expertise have helped define their tight and recognizable sound, a mix of passion and maturity that only comes with experience.
Playing festivals and clubs in countries like France , Italy , Austria and Hungary (among others) not only consolidated their reputation but also proved that they are long past the novelty aspect of being a blues band coming from Greece .
Their infectious live act has captured the minds and the hearts of audiences everywhere and has earned them many an enthusiastic press reviews all around Europe .
Through the years Blues Wire have often backed up top blues artists such as Louisiana Red, Katie Webster, John Hammond, Larry Garner, Big Time Sarah, Carey and Lurrie Bell, Angela Brown, Big Jay McNeely, Al Copley and Jeanne Carroll, to mention a few, proving they can keep up with the best of them.
They have also opened for legendary musicians like Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Albert King, Otis Rush, the Yardbirds and The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Their skill and musicianship led to memorable jam sessions with blues pioneers like Champion Jack Dupree, rising stars like Sherman Robertson and well-known British blues players like Dave Kelly.
The band's versatility and open hearted attitude brought up spontaneous performances together with many musicians of different styles, ranging from Brit-jazzer Dick Heckstall-Smith to Australian songwriter Louis Tillett and from Canvey Island R&B masters Doctor Feelgood to members of Osibisa.
Blues Wire has provided the foundation of the Greek blues scene and the main inspiration for many younger musicians. For five years they were the house band at Pararlama, the first and most famous blues club in Greece .
After a career spanning more than twenty years, Blues Wire are now busier than ever. Spanning yet another mark in their long career, their last studio album showcases a more varied, elaborate and eclectic sound.
Blues Wire may have moved on to another level but their essence remains intact.
Some comments on the work of ELIAS ZAIKOS & BLUES WIRE
"The best blues band in Europe - they deserve a wider audience",
Katie Webster
"The tragic flaw of most European blues musicians is notto be found in Blues Wire. There are no predictably banal hammered notes, no chicheish bending, no lifeless shuffles. Plenty of good taste, plenty of originality",
International Herald Tribune
"Tough, tight and assertive",
Eleftherotypia Newspaper
"The Greek blues quartet left us speechless! Elias Zaikos is a walking encyclopaedia of blues guitar",
IlMessagero Veneto, Italy
"It is a common belief in our times that the blues has already become a world music, regardless of color or nationality, and Blues Wire are a living proof of this",
John Angelatos / Red Rooster Promotion
"The best Greek blues musician"
Exousia Newspaper
"The sounds of Louisiana and Mississippi awaken through a Greek! He interprets the Blues with genuine passion and tension"
Pop and Rock Magazine
"What is brilliant with this musician is that he is based on a constant comment of the music he plays. He is performing an ‘imitation of an important and perfect act', that's it"
Panos Theodoridis, Playwright

- Derek & The Dominos
- Ten Years After
- does Danzig count?
I have John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf albums too, but never listen to them.
I need to add to that list.
Danzig? I don't think so....

Danzig? The guys who did 'Mother'? They do Metal primarily, so I'd guess not!
There's a lot of blues influence in their music. Wiki calls them blues-rock too. I'm just trying to add to that list
