Default Post your 2km running time

This was probably a post before, but what is your fastest time over a flat 2k? Yesterday I did it in 7m 45 sec - but I was faster when I was younger. (About 7m 30 secs?) I used to have a competition with a friend over 3k (around 11m 18 was our (his ) record if I remember correctly).

    What are everyone's times?

Thats impressive. It reminds me of the Irish scheme to reduce petrol consumption by shortening all their roads.

    Running 2km is too short.

My current 2.4km timing is 11:20. Pretty bad, considering the fact that im only 20. My best was 10:20.

I get bored running longer distances. And I know it improves your CV fitness (whatever 'they' may pseudo-scientifically say.) When I slack off going to the gym, I peg out at around 1500m. When I go frequently, 2k is a doddle.

'They' also say you shouldn't combine CV and anaerobic exercise in one session. But I do! Yet I still appear to be slim and have muscles. What can be going on?

i can't do long distances so i can only run about 1k (i'm a sprinter by nature) but the distance i usually jog is around 800m and i do it in around 4mins flat which i'm well aware is crap.

as for being slower now i'm older i know it only 2 well. i haven't done athletics competitions since i was 15 and the last time i tried some sprint training when i was 17/18 i still can't beat my fastest time i set when i was 14.

What is 2k? Like 1.3 miles? I've always ran 5k, minimum. Best was 17:08 or somewhere around there.

Thats a good 5k time. I did a 5k race a few years ago. Around 20 mins 20 secs I think. I think the winner was running about 15 / 16 mins so thats good going.

If I run constantly for 20 minutes (unless its in a race) I go out of my mind with boredom.

That is pretty good fuzz, most runners would be happy with that.

I ran many 5k's during my time in the USMC, my best time was 16:24, that was an all out, everything coming together perfect type of run

    worst was 18-something

That is actually over the average, but certainly not eliteish...
That would have been 3.6-4.0km in about the same time..

I believe mine is about the same as yours.

That's pretty awesome bro. I run 5K everyday and it takes me 21 minutes. Best is 18 mins 37 Secs. Took me a year to get those numbers.

I'll see whether I can do a little round this week and measure it. I'm nearing the end of my ACL recovery so stamina should be ok-ish.

Ugh, I dream about running 21 minutes. I've been running for a couple years but always went for distance until this year when I started focusing on speed. My 5k PR in January was 28:30 and now it's 24:20. Give me another 6 months and I might get it down to around 21-22 minutes. Outside of races and club speed sessions, I'm probably averaging 28-30 minutes for a 5k, but I run six days a week with five of those being 40-50 mins at a time and my long run is always at least two hours.

Increasing your steady pace speed overtime is the key here where your heart rate remains low without you huffing and puffing quickly. And it has a lot to do with practice, eating habits/nutrition and rest.

You will get there eventually as it took me a long time to get me to complete 5K in 25 minutes.

Nice. I do 5k every day also, trying to get it up to 10k. At the moment I'm doing 5k in around 30 minutes but only started a few weeks ago and it's cross country and uphill most of the way.

A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."
