Problems with the Med2 launcher

That little window that comes up with Med2 news and the poll is giving me grief. First, none of the content shows up, saying I don't have an Internet connection, even though I'm using the Internet while this is happening. I don't really care about the online content, but the music that starts playing keeps playing, even when I close the launcher and no other applications are open. It goes on even when I start the game, so I have two different music pieces going on at the same time. And sometimes the launcher doesn't start the game at all, and asks me to browse for the proper startup icon in the CD files. Very annoying.

Ideas on what might be causing this?

Sound like your firewall is blocking the online connection for the launcher.
If you want rid of it just delete the desktop icon and copy your short cut from your main medieval folder (Medieval2.exe) not the one named Launcher!

That was it, thanks! A desktop shortcut couldn't launch it though, so I'm going into the game files to start the game.

Try it this way,go to your main medieval folder, right click on the medieval2.exe
Click on create shortcut and drag the new icon onto your desktop, you can rename it after and even change the icon if you wish.
