    Default Stolen generals loose skill

So I found that Portugal had a general, nice 19 yo guy with 10 (!!) command stars (how the hell do you get one of those, anyway?) So I sent my most beautiful princess (9 of charm) to get him. And so she succeeded and he belonged to be ever since. But the next turn I took a look at him he was "only" 7 stars... yet still 19 Nice perspective anyway, but my question remains, does anyone have a clue why this happens?

Probably because he has 10 stars at commanding Portuguese armies and since you're not Portugal, his skill at commanding new kinds of troops decreases.

Still, a young guy with such a high commad rating is nothing to complain about

AI generals have a trait called "Cohesive fighting unit" wich gives them +3 command, if I remeber corectly. This trait will dissapear when that general became yours by bribe or marriage.

its one of those features that makes SS harder than vanilla, AI generals will get all sorts of bonuses you wont have and should you bribe them they will lose them.

If i were you i would still be happy with a 19 year old 7 star general, you could quickly bump up his command rating with a bit of effort.

That explains all the 8*+ Generals i've been seeing lately.
Give a man a fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of the day.

Sure I'm happy to have him - he is a night fighter with this nice rusty armor, fertile with charming wife. Just look at the kids to come
I was just wondering about the lost skill, because it was the n-th time I got robbed of command stars this way. Now I see how AI can get 10-star general round every corner...

I always thought that when you marry your princess to some general, the general is still kept by the faction and your princess goes to the other faction, or "disappears."

It depends on how you go about marrying her away.

You have the option of marrying your princess to a factions king or heir, in a diplomatic agreement. (Provided they aren't already married, ofcours)
You will lose the princess, and obviously not gain controll of their King/Heir. Your factions are then allied.

You can also have your princess approach a general on the stategic map, and attempt to win him over. This can succeed = The general joins your faction, or fail = Your princess runs off with the general, and is 'disgraced' and removed from your faction, without you gaining the general.
