Long turn times? Run windowed mode!

It would seem that many people dont know how to run this game in windowed mode so I'm here to help. Now this wont really make your turn times faster but at least you can do something else during that time rather than watch the all faction symbols scroll by. Its actually pretty great if you want to get some work done while playing the game or just browse the net.

Simply add the following lines to your stainless steel .cfg file

[video]
windowed=true

To make it even more handy, make a copy of your .cfg and .bat file in your ss6 folder. Edit one of the the .cfg to run windowed mode and one of the .bat files to run the windowed .cfg. The just make another shortcut on your desktop for ss6 but this one leads to the windowed mode .bat file.

For you lazy people out there, I've already done the hard work for you.
Place 'SS6 Windowed' on your desktop, the other files go into your Stainless Steel folder.

does this affect how well the game runs at all? I've never really tried doing windowed mode on things before.

The last time I played a battle on windowed mode I realized I was not able to use my mouse as effectively to move the camera angle around. But other then that I dont think there was much of a difference.

use WASD control. put this in your .cfg
under [controls]
keyset = 1
also double click on the window so that u can rotate using mouse.

Nice tip. I must admit I hadn't thought of this before, but I'm gonna start using it now.

One thing I find irritating about it (besides having to relearn camera movement) is that I have to reduce my resolution in windowed mode; otherwise things get stretched and 'squished'.

Anyone know how to make it so that the titlebar does not show?

I think it's not bad to bump this so the non-veteran players can see it and play the game in window mode.
