Default [suggestion] Suggestions from you lot..

I've decided to pull the plug on my current AAR (I've got better and brighter things in store for that, if all goes to plan), but at somepoint in the near future I'd like to start a new one. Problem is that I don't know what to do :hmmm:. My Ideas are these thus far:

-I recently went on holiday to Normandy, and after having visited many museums and castles, I've come back fairly inspired by what I've seen. I'm thinking of perhaps doing an AAR set in Normandy, or Norman sicily. Most likely I'll use Chivalry total war for this.

-Yesterday I picked up a copy of Simon Scarrow's novel 'Centurion', which has made me wonder about wether or not to do a Roman AAR set in Imperial Rome. I'd most likely use RTR ExRM, or Roma Surrectum for this. Though I'd probably choose RS because of the legions system it has.

What do you think I should do...? If anyone has any good suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks

    Jingles,

I would love to read an AAR of the Imperial Rome, especially with the Fall of the Republic - Rise of the Empire (FRRE) (BI) mods, because I've never read one.

Looks like we both decided to pull the plug on our AARs eh?

Yeah... My one was just taking way too long to do each update.... Instead I've decided to adapt it into a short story, so at least the effort wasn't wasted.

If you're simply not happy with the way your AAR is going, then theres no shame in ending it, imo.

I've had a look at the FRRE forums, and it looks quite interesting. The only problem I have at the mo is a lack of hard disk space, so I can't really install any more mods at the mo. (I'm not using my own PC as it's broken... and I'm being a bit cheeky with all my RM modding stuff taking up many Gigabytes of space already..)

I'll likely stick with RS, as with the new patch out, It's probably one of the most stable mods out there, and quite frankly I'm getting a bit sick of CTDs. In Chivalry, thankfully this dosen't happen too often, so that's why its my other choice.

RS makes for excellent AARs, big map, probably the best skins for an RTW mod and good replayability. But the most important thing is to enjoy what you do, so listen to your hAARt when choosing a mod and a faction.

I completely agree with you. If only I hadn't got of track, my AAR may still be worth while.

It's a big rush here, when there's voting. Currently there's no voting, only ToTW.
View this thread tomorrow, and you'll see a few more votes though.
But I think you should go with the imperial Rome.

It depends on what your plans are for the AAR and, yes, what your hAARt wants to do.

I, personally, would love to read a character-based AAR set in the medieval times (which there don't seem to be a lot of).

Then again, another post-imperial Rome AAR also has great potential.

It's really up to you, mate (but I voted Norman anyway ).

I would love to see a norman aar, but you can't go wrong with a Roman story! I voted for an imperial aar only after great debate, but whatever you do will be great i am sure

Well, I've made my decision, I am in fact going to do both AARs simoultanaeously, the reason for this, is as follows:

    1. I just couldn't decide which one to do in the end.
    2. I just got my PC back from repairs (yay) but the catch is that the new motherboard can't support my old graphics card, and so I can only run very low end stuff on it . Chivalry, however, is a fairly low-end mod, so I can play that on my PC.

RS however is too good for my PC, so Instead of giving it up altogether (which I sure as hell ain't gonna do!) I'll be playing RS, and doing my Roman AAR on the spare PC at my house. That way I can keep each AAR on a different machine, which I think is kinda neat .

However, can some kind soul who plays RS provide me with a save game as Rome that is past the reforms? (RTW.exe, medium unit sizes, 0 or 1 turn recruitment)

Thanks to all that voted, your feedback was greatly appreciated.

Could a mod kindly close this thread, as it has served its purpose.

Good to hear this news, Jingles!

But if you do an Imperial Rome AAR, spice it up somehow, say just hit the end turn button for 30-40 turns to let your enemies steam up... btw RS official gameplay guide advises to do so.

Then capture Italy and "duck". Let Carthage come on to you with elephants and scrutarii.
Get your ass whooped by the Macedonians and Gaul as well, that would cause some serious laughter... never read a Roman AAR, in which the Romans are getting pwned.

Which leads to an idea... to write your story to fit the theme of "Lost Cause" and enter the Themed AAR Competition.

edit: for savegame try searching the RS AAR Sub-forums and ask for it...

    Closed on request.
