    Default Help with error ?

    I've been getting this weird error during the loading screen right before the battle starts.

    02:32:20.265 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2
    02:32:20.265 [system.rpt] [always] ==== system log start, build date: Aug 3 2007 version bld-medieval2-kingdoms-104 (45562) ===

    Could not find battle model for mount 'Mount_Barded_Horse_Kiev'.
    02:35:51.921 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

    It happened in two different campaigns, one right before I fought a seige against venice, and another right before a battle with the moors. I've no idea why its mentioning the Mounted_Barded_Horse_Kiev as i'm not even fighting Kievan rus ! It also seeems to be happeming between turns 12-18.

    I'm using SSTC, with AOR mod and other small mods such as Visual Improvemnt, Text overhaul, stone forts, Crimson tide 4. So nothing major other than SSTC and Aor.

    Anyone have any ideas ?

    go for a re-install mate, its annoying but usually works.

    test-start the game after you install every sub mod so you know which (if any) is the offending article.

    Just so you know, check ur RAM for errors, sometimes it can cause CRC problems during the installation (meaning your RAM corrupts the install)...Apart from that, you also need to have the original of both MTW2 and Kingdoms, otherwise SS won't work properly (battles crash, CTDs etc)

    Did you install text overhaul mod last?

    I a guessing that something has used the real horse sub mod as part of theirs, as the mount file is looking for a type of horse which does not exist in your files. The other option could be the Novgorod roster.

    It could be the order in which you installed them, so ask in sub forums for which mods change the mount file, or install into a seperate folder and have a peek yourself.

    To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.

    Cheers for the replies, I'll do a re-install and check each submod, would installing the text overhaul last change something like that Banzai ?

    Quark: Do you mean just put everything into a new folder instead of SS and check for a descr_mount.txt ?

    I'll ask in the sub forums about the file alright.

    Yes, if I download a sub mod, I always install it into a seperate folder and see what its doing before entrusting it to my modded SS folder. After all its only cut and paste to copy it into the correct folder if I am happy with whats there. If you do this you may find that two mods update the mount file, so it matters in which order you do things.
