So how many kengus would go into 1000 burgers? :S
Well there are millions that we want to cull so I hope everyone likes introducing feral kangaroos to their countries.

Kangaroo tends to be quite tough and tasteless. I can't say I would recommend it, not unless you've got nothing else to eat.
Primal law is the first arbiter and final authority
I wouldn't mind eating some kangaroo, I'll try almost anything once.
On a smaller scale that is.Livestock has been farting andfor the past 8,000 years and the world didn't end.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Before you get too excited -- Which roos are we talking about? I am assuming the larger animals. How adaptable are they to other habits?
All points made regarding methane and the environment -- both pro and con -- are valid to some degree.
This is an interesting marketing idea for roomen (or what ever the equal to cattlemen). It will nat catch on though. Reminds me a bit of the ostrich craze a few years ago. I still see some ostrich farms when travelling in the western USA, but really! Beef, pork, poultry will always dominate -- they are farm animals and not wild, diseases are well kow and mostly treatable, they are easy to propagate and feed, and they have established cooking customs and tastes.
How dose it taste?
according to exarch I am like

Delicious - sort of like a slightly gamey beef or something between beef and venison. It's also virtually fat-free and more protein rich than beef. It's particularly good as the basis for a Bolognese pasta sauce; much better than beef because of its richer taste. If Octy thinks it's "tasteless" then either his tastebuds are completely dead or he's been served roo by a really bad cook.
Can anyone else see the flaw in that argument?Originally Posted by LegionnaireX

Kangaroo is very nice. Its cheaper than beef too. There was a time a few years back when I used it when ever I could because of how cheap it was. Chuck it in a pie and it's good. Have it with mash and veg, it's good. Roast is quite nice, but if you get a bad cut then roasting is not the way to go. Roo just has more taste.
Also, there's something about eating your coat of arms that makes you feel just a bit more Australian.
Never tried crocodile though...

Meh. People can stop eating cows but as long as they drive their 4x4s to Sainsburys to buy kangaroos instead of beef it won't change a thing.
You guys have made me hungry for Kangaroo.![]()
This thread actually made me crave a nice "beef" hamburger from McDonalds. Probably enough kangaroo in there to last me the rest of my life anyway![]()
I stopped burning my old tires, i've done my part for the environment.
Roo meat is great, healthy meat. It's a game animal rather than a fat, domesticated beast. They are all muscle (well, over 98% of the meat is fat free) and therefore very healthy.
And they breed like....well, kangaroos. In fact they are a pest more often than not.
As far as Octy's "tasteless" comment - don't overcook it, and ever heard of marinade?
Personally I love using roo mince as a base for spaghetti bolognese. Mmmmmmmmm![]()
