    Default Dismounted Gothic Knights Good?

The dismounted gothic knights don't appear to be very good to me. Is there a way in which they are supposed to be used for maximum effectiveness? Their attack and defense just seem very low for what they are equipped with(State of the art armor, and large two handed claymoremabobs) Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Just engage them in melee and try not to expose them to missile fire. Their attack is very high for an armor piercing weapon and their attack animation is very fast so they make mincemeat out of pretty much anything in hand to hand.

try to use them as calvary, on flanks/behind they will shatter army moral.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

The main difference in my experience between Dismounted Gothic Knights and Dismounted Broken Lances is that the later performs better. I only recruit the Gothic Knights because they are the first heavy infantry unit available to Sicily. Once Broken Lances are available, I prefer to recruit them because they are a little cheaper, they perform better against French Dismounted Chivalric Knights (when they have improved armor), claymores, can route French Dismounted Noble Knights, and I think they look cooler . Who doesn't love those feathers?

Oops , sorry about that. Thanks Chapman for pointing it out. For some reason I alway think the Norman Knight are called Gothic Knights, so I thought he was taking about Sicily. I don't why though--maybe I think it sounds better . But to add some relevance to my previous post, the Dismounted Broken Lances can beat the Gothic Knights any day.

Are mounted gothic knights best used as a counter to the other heavily armored units that appear around the same time?

    I'll give him the list...

Light Infantry - good against other light infantry; holding the line
Heavy Infantry - good against other infantry
    Spearmen - good against calvary
Missile Infantry - good against anything not charging them
Light Calvary - good against archers; running down anyone trying to run away
Heavy Calvary - good against everything that isn't pointy
Missile Calvary - good against everything other than Light Calvary
Artillery - good against walls, towers, other artillery, infantry, siege equipment, missing, throwing cows.

You forgot there's essentially three types of heavy infantry:
Shock infantry (poleaxes and axes) - similar to cavalry, use to charge repeatedly to crush morale, are also surprisingly good vs cavalry
Swordsmen - good all around, best for defending and cutting down lighter infantry and spearmen
2h Swordsmen - anti armor units, good for cutting down armored targets, easily fall to missiles

well in that case there are missile units with bows which are good against unarmored units or no shield and skirmishers that are good against armor, but they are for closer range. And gunpowder infantry, which there is 1 short ranged, 1 med ranged, and 1 long ranged, and then there are Greek Firethrowers and those guys with fire grenade things and blah blah blah etc.
