Quick battle and custom battle crashes

Every time I try to start a quick battle or a custom battle in whichever kingdoms campaign I get an unspecified error and M2tw most now close. In M2tw vanilla I can't play quick battles but cosum ones I can. The Campaign Battles are just fine, I haven't modded any files except to enable hotseat.

Try to Reinstall the game... Thats what I do always when one game doesnt work properly...

I know you said that you didn't mod any files, but did you unpack the game? If you did, then go into the data folder and be sure to delete the following two files:
descr_geography_new.txt
descr_geography_new.db
All else failing, a reinstall will definitely do the trick, so long as you delete your Medieval II Total War folder after uninstalling.
