    Default RTW options in BI

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I was wondering if there was a way to put the campaign options from RTW into BI.
For example, in RTW you could choose between a long campaign and a short campaign. In BI there is no such option. Also, if I recall, in RTW when you won the campaign, it gave you the option to continue the campaign. I haven't found such an option in BI.

The Option to continue the campaign is there in BI as well afaik...

BI Victory Conditions don't take more than 4 lines per faction (incl. the faction name) so I'm not sure you can't have short campaigns there. YOu can try yourself. The VCs are coded in data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_win_conditions.txt for RTW and BI/data/world/maps/campaign/barbarian_invasion/descr_win_conditions.txt for BI.

When I have tried playing the custom campaign I made, when I win, there are still provinces to be conquered, but it only says, "Go back to the main menu." There is no choice for "Continue the campaign." Is there some script I need to add to my campaign, or something in descr_strat?

What version of RTW are you playing, because earlier versions wouldn't let you continue. I believe 1.6/1.6 was the first version to let you continue playing after completing your victory conditions.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

I am using version 1.6, but here's what is weird:
When I beat the BI campaign, it will let me continue the campaign.
When I beat my campaign, it will NOT let me continue my campaign.
    What is wrong?!

Have you added the "options bi" line in your campaign's descr_strat? You probably have, just asking...

Yes, Aradan is right (while he plays BI and so he has options bi as default setting), just comment out the line options bi should do the trick, but then you won't have other bi typical things as well, afaik, not sure about exactly which bi things are disabled then, Aradan do you know this?

I think options bi is necessary for night battles, it adds the little sparkling effect when a unit gets exp-level during a battle, it allows renaming settlements on the strat-map, and shows the unit descriptions' first paragraph. Not sure but it also prevents the AI factions from winning the campaign, even if they achieve their VCs afaik.

I think you are right of the list above, for night battles needs just the extra code enabled in its respective line, what is of course default in bi.

So he (the thread opener) would get rid of all these bi options, if he disables the line, just to give him the hint to his question for the vc thing and playing further.

I'm not sure if I interpreted this correctly, but I commented out the options_bi.
This is the beginning of my descr_strat:

; Custom campaign script generated by Romans Campaign Map Editor

    campaign barbarian_invasion
    ;options_bi
    playable
    franks
    goths

I tried this out and it didn't work.
Then I tried deleting the 'options_bi' entirely, and that didn't work either.
I noticed though, that even though the beginning of my descr_strat and the BI descr_strat were the same, the BI campaign had more options on the faction select screen. It almost looks like my campaign isn't getting the right options set to it.
Please tell me if I am doing something wrong. Could the problem possibly not be in the descr_strat.txt?

VCs in BI only accepts 3 lines per faction, so you can't add options for a short campaign there, therefore you won't be able to see the "short campaign" options in the faction selection menu. Other than that, there's also the Rome.lnt file that determines what shows up on screen (menus) but I think it's not relevant in this case.

OK, I got the options the Barbarian Invasion Campaign has in my provincial campaign games, but when I beat my campaigns, I still do not get a choice of whether I want to continue the campaign. Earlier you mentioned the line: options bi
I'm not quite sure where I am suppose to put, or delete, that line.
Will 'options bi' solve my problem of not being able to continue my campaigns or is it something else?

Goes at the very top of descr_strat.txt, right below the campaign name. Try it and see I guess... Not sure it will affect old campaigns, you might need to start a new one. If you do have to start a new campaign, just change the VCs of a faction and make them really fast and easy and test with them.
    Code:
campaign barbarian_invasion ; or your campaign's internal name
    options bi
    playable

I tried adding the 'options bi' but that still did not work.
I made an exact copy of the bi invansion folder and copied it, so it would show up in the provincial campaign menu. I tried playing that version, and it gave me the option to continue!
What is the problem?! I've tried the campaign with and without the options bi line, and it hasn't worked. Something must be wrong with my files.
