Hi all, I noticed that after finishing my first crusade as Genoa I was offered St Johns and Templars. Is that normal to have a choice, and it is ever possible to have one of each in the course of a game? Just curious...

its normal to have the choice (but usually you get an offer from one order in one turn and if you turn it down you might get an offer from another order the next turn. I dont know if you got them in the same turn or not.)
no you cannot have one of each in the same city, but i think you can have one of each in your kingdom... wich is realistic since the orders generally didnt care that much if there was another order in the same kingdom.
Well you can and you can't. If you accept one order house, you won't be offered any chapter houses from any of the other orders. So technically you can't build more than one order's chapter houses. BUT if you conquer a city that has another order's house in it, you will be able to recruit that order's knights.
In my first M2TW campaign as the english, I had accepted (and consequently built numerous) Hospitalier chapter houses. When I conquered a Danish settlement, I found it had the Templar chapter house. So after that in some of my armies I had both Hospitallier and Templar knights![]()
Just to add to this. You can only recruit another chapter house's unit if it would be possible for your faction to have that in the first place. So if England got Hospitallers, they could conquer a Templar region and gain that, but they wouldn't gain Teutonic / Montesa / Santiago Knights if they got it. Those guilds would remain in a settlement if conuqered, but they won't produce units (though things like health bonuses would remain, but its a waste of a guild-space).
I always choose Hospitaller Orders over Templar's though. Has an extra health bonus, that and Hospitaller Knights look amazing. I think the only other choice there is Aragon choosing between Santiago & Montesa, and there I always choose Montesa (after all, they are Aragon's order).

Not true, I'm afraid. Playing Aragon I have Montesa up to HQ, and after some time I was offered Santiago to be built in settlement below Tunis. What is strange here, is that dismounted Montesa take 4 turns to train. All remaining (mounted Montessa and both Santiago) take 1 turn... Anyone noticed?
EDIT:
Actually, I forgot something here: I'm playing Late Era with 2 turns per year (WdS mod) so maybe it's WdS bug... Anyone can confirm that it's not SS's fault?

Teutonic when I'm HRE, Santiago when I'm Spain, Montesa when I'm Aragon, whatever unit house Portugal has when I'm Portugal. I like to get the unique units, so no Templar or Hospitaler if I have other choices.
The hospitallers is much better. No point in building the templer one. They should have a boost to something in an update.

I usually go for the Templar one as i find that the AI tends to have a Hospitaller over the Templar, so then when i conquer a settlement with the Hospitaller guild in i can have both
I modded my game so that Catholic factions get the Dismounted Knights Templar and gave the chapter house a bonus to trade income, so its actually worth getting![]()
Soylent Green is people!!!
@bacon: That makes sense since the Templars were bankers, could you tell me what did you mod?
Yup thats a good idea.

Go into the descr_buildings file and find the templar guild, it should look like this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
For the trade bonus add the line "trade_base_income_bonus bonus *", like this:

If you want to add Dismounted Knights Templar and the trade bonus to the factions that can get the templar guild then do this:

Also you are going to want to add those factions to have ownership of "Dismounted Knights Templar" in the descr_unit file

Hi, everybody!
I was wondering... If one were playing as the Knights Templar, would there be any concrete (as opposed to roleplaying-related) benefits to picking the Templar chapter houses over the Hospitaller ones? Perhaps one could have more units ready for conscription at once? Perhaps the limits for the number of units available for training would not be raised, and therefore picking the Templar houses would be a waste of guild space?
Help please ^_^
I notice that among the factions that can own templars, jerusalem is mentioned. Is there a Jerusalem faction?
Yes, the Kingdom of Jerusalem is a faction, separate from the Templars, with a slightly different roster. The only difference is Templars are Early Era and KoJ is late era (note, the KoJ does not have an emergence script, it will only be there if you play the late Era campaign, or if you put a submod on that causes their emergence).

Hospitalliers, because they look so buff and bad ass in their black.
