Spear_bonus and bonus against horses/camels etc.

Can anybody tell me what's the difference between spear_bonus_(number) and giving a bonus against particular kind of mount (mostly: all mounts) "horse +(number), camel + (number)".

I'm thinking that it maybe this way that spear_bonus_X is applied when unit is standing ready to hold the cavalry charge or maybe against any units (including foot units) charge, or else maybe few rows take a part in battle (as it was in MTW) or... I don't know. I think that the mount bonus "horse +X" is applied anytime during fight or... maybe it's replaceable with spear_bonus which could also be applied anytime against cavalry...???

What's the difference??

The bonus against mount works only between mounted units. (Scared by elephants, scares horses)
The spear bonus works only with infantry against ALL mounted units.

But now I'm confused... many units ina many (most?) of mods uses "horse +x, camel +x, elephant +x" phrase with infantry (besides "spear_bonus_x" phrase).
Examples:
form Stainless Steel 6.1 units like "Dismounted Noble Knights", "Icelandic Axemen"...
from Deus Lo Vult 5.7 most spears or two-handed infantry like "Italian Spear Militia", "Berdiche Axemen"...
and so on....

1. that this "horse +x..." phrase is unused when added to infantry description or
2. that "horse +4, camel +4, elephant +4" with "spear_bonus_4" works the same as "spear_bonus_8"??

According to my information the line "mount" (where all these abilities are) relates to the abilities of the mount only (horse , camel etc). It appears to me that the line is either
1. a left over line from the unit being mounted and then modded to be unmounted or
2. a misunderstanding of the effects initially (and not removed after correction) because
3. I doubt that the militia has a +8 effect on mounted units (as per your link), it would be similar to the stakes or better.

I just have a feeling that many moders don't exactly know how it all works but trying and testing makes mod playable

We have not been given a detailed manual by the producers, so trying and testing remains the only option. And the source of despair and triumph.
