The setup has detected that version 1.02.001 of Medieval II: Total War is already installed.

This setup installs an earlier version of Medieval II:Total War (1.00.000?.

You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version.

I encounter the problem, you really do need to uninstall it properly since the game wont reinstall if it detects that its been installed, but since you deleted all the main file, the uninstaller cant detect and install, so it doesnt work, its a bit paradoxical really. Anyway, just go into your system recovery, and reset your computer for an earlier date, Im not exactly assure what to do on vista so just google "resetting computer to previous date", a date before you deleted all the files. Good Luck!

Well I looked into it and its says..

System Restore is not intended for backing up personal files, so it cannot help you recover a personal file that has been deleted or damaged. You should regularly back up your personal files and important data using a backup program.

Well, I know what Microsoft says but if you get a system restore point before you deleted the folder, it will get you back to there. Anything you have done since will be lost forever.

I am going to make an assumption that you have either full administraive rights to your computer or at least turned off the UAC. I will also assume you have unhid all hidden and system files. If not, need to learn how now.

In your administrative/*/virtual store folder, delete your Sega folder. Reason for unhiding everything.
Use a registry cleaner. A lot of good free ones on the web.
    Reboot your system.
    Try reinstalling.
