    Default Missing Tga Files

    Well, I've downloaded Alpaca's Stripped Down Mod Folder, and I'm trying to get a new unit into the game.

    Problem is I keep getting "Unspecified Errors"

    I tried the level = * trace feature and my system log has a bunch of missing Tga. files not found

    An example:

    Any help would be much appreciated!

    For starters, the DeathsDance is a mod folder of which I assume is yours. When the game can't find the file there, port or otherwise, it looks in the default locations, packs first. Are you using the --io.file_first switch? If not, need to do so. There is a tutorial for adding units to the game. Something says whatever unit you are trying to add follows your port. You get an error like that and the log goes dead, the problem is graphics, specifically an animation file, 99.9% of the time. Did you delete all the map.rwms bfore you tried to load the game? That will cause it, also.

    file_first = true

    in my .Cfg file if thats what you mean,

    and the Tga files that are missing...I can't seem to find them in my Main Data folder either, and I reinstalled the game just to see if I deleted them by accident. No luck :hmmm:

    The Unit Animation for my new unit is the one for Armoured Swordsmen which are most similiar to my new unit.

    I did not delete the map.rwms before I loaded the game...do I have to?

    My unpacked/unmodded version has it data/ui/southern_european/buildings/#southern_european_c_port.tga.
    I just did a full search of my Sega folder, including three mod folders buried in it, and there are no buildings that are .tga.dds.
    I think you need a serious reinstall, start from scratch and make sure everything works first. I have alpaca's mod folder, also, and what little I've used it, it work as advertized.

    Hmm...I just checked my Sega Folder and I do have the "#southern_european_c_port.tga" in it.

    The problem is I don't have this "#southern_european_castle_port.tga"

    ...Does it even exist? :hmmm:

    I don't think so. Have you renamed any of your buildings? You or a mod would have to rename it. I maybe wrong but I'd check out the export_buildings.txt, the export_descr_buildings.txt. and any names.txt.

    Edit: It seems I fixed the problem by copying the player.txt from the /Medieval II Total War/preferences into my Mod Folder...

    But now it still crashes (albiet the game lasts a bit longer)

    My system log shows this over and over and over again...

    The log numbers at the beginning are different for the missing Textures,
    and the numbers different for this "[bink]" problem at the end


    Interestingly, this shows up at the end, after possibly a billion lines of missing texture problems

    The Bink thing really stumps me :hmmm:
