    Default recruiting generals

    Hi everybody,

I was wondering if it was possible to change the game files so that generals (bodyguards) could be available in the capital city at any time instead of through having a fortress with uber-stables.

THe thing is i like being able to recruit a general to have marry my princesses if they are up to scratch but it can be annoying sometimes when you have to wait for 100 odd turns to actually get a fortress.

I play with RR which means that there is a 20 turn delay between generals availability which is fine, i was just hoping to be able to have them from near the start of the game.

    Thanks in advance

Modify your EDB to make them recruitable from lower level stables. I change mine for availability in 2nd level stables onward.

How do I do this? What do I change in the EDB? I had done it before on a prior install and I can't seem to be find that the thread that explained it.

The issue is that there is nothing to define the capital as an entity in the EDB, so you would need something like a show_me script, such that when you clicked on the capital (as you can change such) it would pop up the advisor. Click on a button, an interactive event pops up and says 'Do you wish to recruit a general', If yes...., If No...

So it can be done, just requires a bit more work than copy/paste in the EDB.

I was thinking about doing such for the handing out of certain ancillaries, but have been distracted by figuring out Ai instead.

yeah, i thought of that but it just doesnt feel right being able to recruit a general from almost everywhere either...

i was wondering if there was some way of making a unit only available in capitals, sort of like how units won through missions appear in youre factions capital

Not sure how you would script that - it's possible of course but I'm too tired to think...

Erm what you'd probably need to do is script it in the campaign script somehow - just not sure, best to ask BYG =]
